I dunno... a friend who got married last Fall did this for their gift registry, and I thought it was great. Easy gift (a few clicks on a website and boom, gift shopping done. Plus it meant not having to carry a potentially breakable/heavy gift in my luggage on the plane) and there were a range of priced activities to

Thanks! And yeah, I know it's not the same as THAT kind of a destination wedding, but it may even be less feasible for a lot of my family and friends, which makes me feel like a jerk.

LOL seriously. It's like "oh, so sorry you can't come, but your money can still come, right?" NOPE!

Even more galling are the people who put little cards in their invitations saying that if you can't go to the wedding, would you mind making a donation for the designation wedding? One of my cousins did this and it took all of my willpower to not photocopy my ass and send it back to her with a declination.

Destination weddings are just the worst (as are often the people having them).

I feel like so much depends on the bride. For a lot of reasons. Maybe my friends are just broke and understanding but I've been asked to be a bridesmaid 4 times and I had to say no 3 times for financial reasons. Only one friend became pissy but later apologized. Also most just were gonna let me wear a dress of my

No, you don't get it. In "encouraging the fatty who is doing such a good job," you are being super condescending, though you think you are being helpful. You're demonstrating a "look at the zoo animal" mentality. People just want to exercise in peace, to not attract any attention. Fat people want to go to the gym

Not as much as it sucks to be unable to take pleasure in how strong and fit you are simply because you aren't as small as you like to be. I speak from experience on this one. What does it say about us that we are always trying to diminish ourselves?

Wouldn't effect me, one bit. I already do for my employment, so let's have it. But yes, it's a great idea and this should be mandatory... we do 6 weeks for driver's ed, let's have a 2 month night class on firearms, in order to be licensed. Sounds like a great idea, really.

Or if there was a fifty dollar tax per gun to pay for those classes.

There's just no possible way ANY child that is encouraged to behave like that is going to turn into a well-adjusted adult. I realize they show has made their family a lot of money, but ultimately it's just sad. Most kids realize at a certain age that they're too old for cutesy, sassy, borderline disrespectful behavior

It makes me absolutely fucking livid that whenever something like this happens and someone has the GALL to mention some sort of legislation on gun control, you have all the people (some who are otherwise fairly reasonable human beings) crying, "Not alllllll gun owners! I'm responsible! I take lessons! I have a permit!

I HATE Dr. Drew with a PASSION.

I forgot to add that her whole "I used to be fat; I changed my ways, you can too" shtick is based on false premises, since she was never heavy to begin with.

I can also wear my skinny jeans. They are a size 12 but you know, I put them on my legs and away I go!

I'm sick of always hearing about what body part women are unhappy with. Let's start talking about what we love about ourselves, and each other.
