I was thinking this too. They can't send a sext but they can sure send a 25 page letter detailing what they'd like to do. Cells and internet access are a luxury.

I do recognize that you're talking about a very specific aspect of the discussion. But I think what's frustrating (for me at least) is that I'm not sure the piece is asking you to feel sorry for these women because they don't have social media access to their partners. I don't. What I do feel is an appreciation for

Agreed. This is expensive stuff, and I'm a little jealous she can afford it all, but my guess is most of it lasts a bare minimum of several weeks, if not months.

Agreed. The occasional innocent prisoner aside, most people in prison are there for a reason. You are there to be punished. The people that your crime harmed are not going to feel bad because you can't "like" your girlfriend's dinner.

Yeah, by the headline's logic, Martha's using $150k worth of Mercedes AMG (or whatever it is) a day... just driving around.

But she doesn't pay $2,ooo a day, which is what I was expecting to see here. I've used that SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic serum ($153) and it lasts like four months with daily use. I didn't re-buy it though because I saw no difference in my skin from when I was using $18 serums.

Hey, someone has to be. :) I totally am, too, don't know why I held back this time. You probably just beat me to it.

THANK YOU. Not that prisoners should all be treated as if they're all in solitary confinement, but the point of being locked away is being locked AWAY. Jail is a punishment; it would be cruel to remove all contact with the outside world and cause even more problems for when they're released, but to give prisoners the

I'm a huge believer in rehabilitation - that prison isn't just there for punishment.

To me is has nothing to do with the idea of social media taking over relationships. While I feel for the families of inmates in general, I don't feel sorry for the actual inmates who can't "like" a pic or get/send a text. They're criminals and are in prison for a reason—it's punishment, after all.

I think the bigger issue is that they can't be a part of their wives or girlfriends' lives like they would if they weren't incarcerated.

I like to watch Girls as 90% satire, occasionally with genuinely thoughtful things to say about mental illness, and in this one case, sexual orientation.

Thank you. I didn't want to be the first one to be an asshole and say it, but I agree with you completely. They can't "like" their girlfriends parking lot selfies, boo hoo. This is ridiculous, and frankly, it makes me take the whole article less seriously. It takes away from the very real hardships these women go

I'm supposed to feel sorry for people because they can't Instagram? Fuck right off.

While I understand that they'd feel somewhat isolated given the popularity of social media, it seems like actual communication via visit, phone call, or written letter would be that much more intimate and meaningful. I say this, of course, as a person that doesn't have to deal with any of this.

on her Instagram you can see selfies tagged #morning and #tired and #goingtoseemybaby.

My favs.

LOLOL @ 2. Was thinking the exact same thing!

Yeah, it would be perfect if they fixed the crotch bagginess.

I mean, both are of the "I'm my own stylist" camps which I have always thought is utter bollocks. But then they show up to the Punk-Themed Met Gala in glorified prom dresses and I think, "welp, maybe they DO dress themselves."
