Really, I would go one further and suggest skipping air freshener. That stuff is disgusting at the best of times, and keeping it put away is a nice gesture toward those with chemical or smell sensitivities.

seasonal soaps/candles can be so rough!!! i call the candles “headache candles.”
I feel this in my (turkey) bones. it’s a very forgiving, simple cooking method with a lot of different routes to accomplish the same thing!
The worst thing about barbecue is all the people who tell you you are doing it wrong because the best thing about barbecue is that there is almost no wrong way to do it.
I backed the Misen knife. I’ve had two. I would not recommend it. The free sharpening was free, decently quick, but just mailed out to a single sharpening service you could do on your own for less. It wasn’t as advertised. It can’t hold an edge for more than a week, the steel is horribly soft.
For $50 less, I bought…
Hellman’s (known as Best Foods west of the Rockies) Mayonnaise.
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. Accept no substitutes.
That’s my dad’s REAL hobby--fly fishing. We haven’t gone recently and I am itching to go get a fly stuck in a tree!
I’m so glad you liked it! I just learned Roy got a 5x5 so maybe he’ll share a little meat lol. He was up there all season; he deserves the win.
I just want to dredge it in flour and fry it in butter!
I just heard that my buddy Ray got a 5x5!! He has been up there for like three weeks straight though. He deserves it!
Thank you for reading! I’m so glad you liked it!
Hunting is boring, peaceful, frustrating, physically taxing, and sedentary all at once, and for some reason I want to do it again next year.
This was SO good. Thanks for sharing.
Claire, I really enjoyed this read. I hunted for 4-5 years, and was never successful, although my hunting partner shared his bounty with me when he bagged one. I agree with your assessment that “Hunting is boring, peaceful, frustrating, physically taxing, and sedentary all at once, and for some reason I want to do it…
It’s incredibly fun!
There are two more installments on the way!
Thanks for writing this comment so I don’t have to :)
Yes!!! This is so awesome Claire. I love that you are getting into strength training and you’re bow hunting elk, that is all so cool. You will see so many benefits from strength training that will affect the quality of life from now until old age. Please post more about your elk hunt, I am really interested. I just go…
Just a general reminder, hunting/fishing activities (mostly licenses), pay for over half the US conservation efforts.
