I don’t think of the writers as a monolith at all. It’s actually sort of a bug bear for me that people are like LAST WEEK JEZEBEL SAID X, because there are a bunch of different people with different views and that is as it should be. Some are good, and smart, some are ok, some have talents that are humour some have

“Spat”? No, he very clearly and openly expressed there’d been a huge mistake. Then immediately announced “Moonlight” was the actual winner. He handled it with grace and even excitement for “Moonlight”. Spat? Stop the drama.

Mr. Aggressive didn’t give anyone else a chance to do the job - much less a producer who had come on stage, Jimmy who had come on stage, or the last speaker..?

basically yelling into the microphone as if he was elected to do the job

This comment on the live thread really annoyed me too. Three white men used their power and influence to create a movie for children (Zootopia) with an anti-racist message. To me, that’s exactly what they’re supposed to do with their privilege. Nope, not good enough for Kara.

I mean I think he sounded pretty fucking pissed. But I didn’t interpret it as him being mad Moonlight won or bitter or jealous AT Moonlight or anything. I kind of just interpreted his aggressive affect as being pretty pissed overall at the situation.

“Moonlight: Best Picture,” spat Horowitz.

For all the times I like Jezebel, it’s things like this that are driving me away. A lot of the staff write callous and snarky things for no reason. It’s just mean for the sake of mean a lot of the time.

Moonlight: Best Picture,” spat Horowitz.

Yeah, I thought the Lala Land producers handled it with exceptional grace. They took it on themselves to announce that they hadn’t won, quickly got out the message that Moonlight had won, and tried to reassure the Moonlight team that this was all real and they should get up on stage. Like that’s a lot of crazy in

Yeah, I don’t see how else they could have handled it. I mean, I wanted Moonlight to win, but the La La Land people made the kind of movie they want to make and did a good job of it by all accounts, and I’m not going to wish ill on them just because it’s not my cup of tea. I’m sure they’re mostly nice people who

Yeah, I agree. It seemed like he was trying to make it right as quickly and clearly as possible.

He had a great performance in MbtS, deserving of the award. One can separate his performance in the role from his accused abhorrent behaviour off screen.

Moonlight: Best Picture,” spat Horowitz.

He presented the statue to three white men who won an award for making jazz music.

If you don’t think white men can create great jazz music, you are a racist and know nothing about jazz.

Oh, no, white guys won an award. How racist.

It’s such a fucking insult.

La La Land won the Oscar for Best Original Song. The award was handed out by Samuel L. Jackson. He presented the statue to three white men who won an award for making jazz music.

They don’t. It’s for sleight of hand.
