Doesn’t everyone hope their partner will eventually turn into a new person? Isn’t that the goal?

The government in Singapore kind of creeps me out too...

“I believe that in theory people should help each other and have rights, but I will do nothing to make sure that happens in practice”

Nope. It literally calls him her boyfriend the first sentence of the People article that it links to.

They didn’t! My jaw actually dropped when I read that. Maybe it was a joke about people thinking she can’t keep a man?

I’m just so disappointed that this article didn’t begin “Avril Lavigne isn’t dead--she’s born again.” It was RIGHT THERE!

She was raised in a strong Christian background. I remember reading in a teen magazine in the early 00's where an unnamed friend thought her rise to fame was odd, considering that she performed Christian rock in local talent shows, dressed modestly, and was so naive about the world that she went around asking friends

She already tried much of that type of stuff.  Remember, she is quite religious, and in the past has supported cutting those deadbeats off of welfare, was against same sex marriage, voted for the Iraq war and Patriot act, was for mass incarceration and death penalty.  And according to a lot of Obama supporters in

I loathe the way they have to be routinely tortured online in ways the Spanish Inquisition only dreamed of if they’d had access to Twitter, but honestly this was a terrible idea to begin with. I just wish they could have had a fling and parted without having their entire relationship become some kind of hellish unpaid

24 is young. 24 and living in the spotlight while dealing with scrutiny and immense trauma is VERY young.

or maybe even that she didn’t have to start at 8, but could have sang like normal kids do and pursued a career as an adult. *shrugs*

I know plenty of singers and musicians who don’t need celebrity-status to feel they’ve made it as artists. Some can even make perfectly comfortable livings as performers in genres that get less popular media coverage. I think the poster was suggesting that her parents may have (I don’t know her parents so who knows if

He isn’t bipolar, for one.  And for two, the speculation and gossip that I’ve seen is not that he HAS a disorder, it’s that he is managing it incorrectly, should never be in a relationship with his disorder, etc etc etc.

But did she bring fame on herself?  Her parents had her working cruise ships by age eight.  Did she ever even get a say?

I don’t want her to be sad, because I honestly think she’s been through enough, including being harassed and bullied online and blamed for her ex’s death, but I think she deserves better than someone who talks publicly about fucking her the way he does.

I actually feel kind of bad for both of them. It’s hard enough being young and in love. All those chemicals can make even the most level-headed among us act like idiots. But then throw the spotlight on them, add some not-insignificant trauma, dial up the scrutiny to 11, and those two (very) young people never had a

I’m sorry for these young ‘uns. It’s hard enough being in a relationship, but they had to deal with the eyes of the world, rampant gossip and speculation about his mental health (and hers after Mac Miller died), and an inordinate amount of snark and hate towards them.
