I have lived away from mine for over a decade and even though my wife’s parents have cars, they don’t have any spares, therefore if either of our are down it’s an issue for both of us. That’s why I’ve kept a spare car, but that has a whole different set of problems (that is, I don’t drive either of my cars enough to

Hmm... Viscous cycle. Sounds sticky.

If these people weren’t dumb they’d just lease shitty cars for the same monthly payment and end up better off in the end. Then again, because they’re dumb you’d need to include a forced savings program to go toward the deposit on the next car.

Some law changed recently to saddle us with more debt through mortgages by excluding student loans from being used in calculating the ability of a borrower to repay...

I do something similar, except I’m not afraid to take a low or no interest loan, set up automatic payments, and at least let interest income offset some of the price. Recently, the run up in the markets has been far better, too.

I have found that this only works if you have a spare car for when that car is down or you have an otherwise ridiculously reliable car. Most of us don’t have that... It wasn’t so bad when I lived with my parents and their fleet of random junk, but I did a lot of the heavy lifting of providing transportation when

It is returning to normal to some extent now. When I bought my car it would have been stupid to buy a used one (but quite a bit less for a leftover from the former model year), so I bought one new. I wouldn’t expect that situation to be common. Used prices have declined considerably in the last couple years aside from

I bet you could get that new car for less than the listed price, too. Combined with financing, if you must take it, you’re probably coming out ahead on the new car.

I didn’t realize they were in Mexico -or- San Francisco. I’ve never seen one in the US before.

I always thought this was about the breakdown, so thank you for confirming my beliefs.

The classiest. Aren’t those everywhere in Brazil?

At the current hash rate of BTC miners, the price can only drop another couple thousand before it is no longer profitable using ASICs. It’s already not profitable with video cards. I wonder what idiots are buying up cards for it...

I find this relatively attractive, in spite of the extreme levels of gauche.

Meh. The only interesting thing they make is the Alpine A110, which would never make it to the US in anywhere near the original form...

I wanted the old C4 Cactus. Still want the new one, but miss the sweet quirkiness of the old model...

Congrats on COTD!

The name predated Trump’s run for president and is the brand name on the GS8 in China...

Well, people do buy FCA products, so there’s clearly a segment of the market that doesn’t think about useful service life.

tight control over supply chain quality

The GM trucks lost weight through use of aluminum body panels as well, they just didn’t use it in the bed...
