I was referring to all the gearbox internals, not the input shaft alone but you got me on this lack of precision. Nevertheless, in standstill it only rotates if the driver sits in idle - which in a warming-up phase does not make any sense, since the engine will always warm up quicker if it experiences any actual load.

So you say you sit in idle with your clutch not pressed and wait until your engine gets warm? That’s cute but that does not help your engine (and gearbox) get warm quicker than if you were driving. Which is the point of this 4-year old post (glad you visited already): how to quickly warm all these metal things

Well, I hate to break it to you, but if your gearbox internals rotate while you are NOT driving, you are hopelessly spinning your wheels while not moving.

No, it’s not turning if you are idling, either because the clutch is disengaged ( = engine is physically disconnected from the gearbox) or because the car is not in gear ( = no rotation of internals since the car is in standstill).
You obviously do not cruise while idling, do you?

One of the saddest days in the history of the British automotive industry.

The first electric Mini will

So it’s effectively a “point and fire” system for an automobile? I wonder if they also have a trackday mode for perfect apexes. Would ruin the fun immediately.

Jason Fenske likes it.

Kinda can’t wait for the “first Byton airbag deployment” newsflash.

Well, it looks like a car, which is a nice deviation from their usual racing EV efforts, to begin with.

RK has a viable option for a sponsorship of $10M if chosen for a race seat.

If you see a car in this video, it will crash.

Lots of understeer only partially mitigated with a generous application of throttle. Meh.

Don’t be. It used to be a mediocre emulation of the original New Age Mini (R53), with low-quality, uninspiring interior and disappointing driving dynamics. Obviously, with a price to match, I’ll give them that.

New Defender SVR.

Actually, it was an all-french effort to replace the infamous PRV engine and both competitors - PSA (Citroen-Peugeot) and Renault - participated in the construction and used it extensively until Renault switched to VQ.

It’s not some money. It’s very serious money in today’s automotive environment, especially if you are a Europe-based manufacturer. Each and every engine option needs to be homologated and tested in the WLTP cycle with each and every equipment level - and it may still fail the test, which makes such an investment more

No, MQB is for Octavia/Golf/Jetta/A3 family.

Last time I checked, the A4 was based on MLB platform which mandates a longitudinal engine, just as the A4 has always had - and so has it’s Torsen-based quattro.
