I’ve heard some interesting things about it. May pick it up on a Steam sale at some point.

I don’t know why new ARPGs are so rare these days, but I’d been craving something to fill that void (while waiting for the new Torchlight to leave beta - still not sure how I feel about that after a playtest weekend), and heard about this a while back, signed up for closed beta, played a lil. It hit Early Access this…
Glad I skipped this one. It really bothered me in the first game (KILL ALL THESE HORDES OF STEREOTYPED CRIMINAL POC!!), and the gunplay felts spongy and bland. Sounds like that’s amped up in the second one, so I don’t think I’ll be tempted to grab it, despite the semi-glowing reviews.
Sending all the love and crossing all the fingers, Fahey.
Maybe it’ll finally make enough money on this iteration that we’ll get a sequel? A boy can dream...
This is good KinjaTM.
I’m broke as shit and in college debt for life and I always tip 20%. It’s just a dick move not to. People suck.
I like my Sno, but it’s really (really) hard to beat that Chris, beard or no beard.
Ho-lee-shit.
Golly, mobile F2P (SO not “free”) games have really suckered me in the past few years. I remember seeing you cover Lineage 2: Revolution and seeing the autoplay feature and being like, “What... how is that fun?” And then a few months later I got into it and was like, “Ohhh... so it’s the feeling of progress without…
...that has no relevance to this issue whatsoever.
Big PSA: Chest contents scale to your level, so if you feel inclined to spend money on this game, do NOT buy the chests in the store early in the game - I made that mistake, and everything was leather/iron. Huge waste of in-game currency and it kinda killed my interest in the game. Super lame they don’t tell you that…
Interesting - perhaps I’ll give it another whirl one day then when I’m feeling that MMO itch. Thanks for the info!
Right? Cel-Shaded 3D will always look terrible to me. That said, I do agree that it’s odd they didn’t go with Akira’s style in full 3D - it’s definitely been done in games before (and tbh I’m not even partial to his style - big reason I’ve never gotten into the DQ series).
Fair enough - different strokes, I suppose.
Man, I really wanted to like this game, but the auto-scaling of enemies they added completely obliterated any sense of progress for me. Like, I never felt like I was getting stronger when I could go anywhere in this massive world at any time. Anyone else struggle with that in this game?
Seriously, this is the best gaming read I’ve had in memory - largely because as a lifelong BW fan, and an ardent supporter of BW in their darkest times (including not hating ME:A or DA:II as much as everyone else, and going in for the year of Origin Premiere for this game before launch), I’ve just been absolutely…
Yeah, sounds like it must have been something weird with my PC at the time.
I feel that. That game was a big chunk of my childhood.
Wow. That’s a really good point and comparison. Hell, I remember when the first Unreal was the prettiest thing I’d ever seen - or even Turok 2. I guess it’s easy to forget those leaps and bounds. Strange how jaded we’ve become to stunning visuals.
