Yeah, minor league ball is usually a good time.  You’re not kidding about the weather - I’m sure I don’t need to tell you about August here.  I’m usually working games myself when the weather is better for sitting, as an umpire of amateur ball.  Oh, well.

I grew up in Maryland, and started my fandom during the great Oriole run through the 70s and into the early 80s. I currently live in San Antonio, and have yet to go to a Missions game.

I never dreamed of a day where I’d have to Google a word I saw in a Deadspin comment. And yet, here we are.

The “HEAR IT FROM” entry from Marc is haunting. The film version of it would be in black-and-white, and grainy, with dissonant sax music playing in the background, with him narrating as he walks though the rain.

We’ve had five pets in our household over time, and missed ALL of that. Our first pair of cats had the best names: Mookie and Gemma.  We didn’t have a lot of concerns with meeting ‘duplicates.’  We had more concerns with people pronouncing them correctly, shockingly.

I know we’re not finished with the league yet, but holy shit, it’s gonna take SOME doing for a fanbase to be as self-harming as this one. I noticed it seemed to be the longest so far of the “HEAR IT FROM” sections, and it was definitely the funniest, in a scarily-dark way.

I’ve made the same point on my (admittedly limited) FB feed - when we as a nation didn’t respond when it was first-graders, that’s when we told we world we didn’t give a shit.
