In no way Hogwarts Legacy was a deserving GOTY contender. I think it was a decent first approach for that studio on an open world game but it was an average game all around.

However good/great that game was, I still believe Resident Evil 4 shouldn’t have receive a GOTY nomination.

It’s a remake, so technical categories like audio design - sure thing, no problem. But it’s still a remake and I believe there were plenty of titles that should’ve received that nom instead of RE4, regardless of

My only gripe with this years nominations is Zelda TotK. It’s just a repeat of BotW once you get bored of the sandbox stuff. It shouldn’t be on the list.

It’s not a slow year for RPGs at all. Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield, Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty, Colony Ship, WH40K: Rogue Trader, Sea of Stars, FF16, Diablo 4, Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn, Wartales, Persona 5 Tactica, Star Ocean: The Second Story R, For the King 2, etc.

Starfield was not ghosted, it wasn't deserving.

Maybe? But I feel like they set themselves up for it. Microsoft literally described Starfield as one of the most important RPGs ever made, and then it barely even made the list of nominees. I think if they’re going to oversell it like that it’s fair to call them out.

Look, I don’t want to be annoying about it, but RE4 has no business being up for game of the year. It’s a fantastic facelife, but it isn’t a new game. The same goes for Deadspace (which, FWIW, I think was always a more interesting action horror game than RE4), and I’m glad that one didn’t get nominated.

Starfield honestly lacked the charm of skyrim or fallout. I think it was mainly an issue in how you traveled. It was all insta-teleport which removed most of the exploration wonder that it could have been.

The problem isn’t the size per se but more that the size was the selling point and then it was implemented so poorly. At least in terms of gameplay. Exploring the many systems is neither particularly fun nor particularly rewarding. And it doesn’t tie in to the story. This isn’t a game about interplanetary exploration

One thing to notice, Third Strike, Brood Wars, and MvC2 are still supported and sold by their companies in various forms.

ssbm does not have a level editor

A year? And they produced something that looks and plays like it was made in six months as a student project. That does not speak well for their skill level.

... that plot point wasn’t scrapped. You literally launch the rocket at meteor.

My god, that’s lazy. And I mean “Poochie died on the way to his home planet” lazy. I personally didn’t love the tech-y parts of BotW so whatever, but if you’re going to have such a weak answer, maybe just don’t give an answer at all.

ngl, Sheikah tech has always been some of the weakest and most contrived parts of BotW/TotK lore.

I think there is some context missing. Since I never played the game how many lines does Naomi Hunter have?  By that I mean is it something that could have been knocked out in an afternoon, or is it something that took days or weeks?  If it’s the former $1200 for 4 or 5 hours isn’t bad, as far as I know, but if it

That’s a bit of an oversimplification. The team working on LoL is not the same team working on Valorant or the fighting game or the MMO or any of the other spin-offs. Most of the spin-offs were outsourced to other studios entirely. Riot is a big studio comprised of multiple teams working on different projects at any

Riot didn’t make those, just funded them. Riot Forge is essentially an initiative that allows other develops to create in the league IP. The only Riot internal games are League, TFT, Legends of Runeterra, and Valorant. The fighting game, Sylas Game, Ziggs Rythym game, Song of Nunu, and Ruined King are all Riot Forged.

Riot made the shooter Valorant. They’re also doing a fighting game (??) and a side scroller, a little bit after doing an isometric action game. There are anecdotes that go the other way with developers, but I feel “x can’t do anything but x type of game” is not really a thing. Game development isn’t black and white

Look, Erin is a bird now, that was the best he and Mikasa were going to get, best accept that and move on.
