Me either. Luckily I’m Gold SR, so it really has nothing to do with me. Above my pay-grade in pretty much every way.

Oh, I’m not defending xQc. Dude’s an asshole, always has been. I’m just trying to highlight the challenges Blizz has in keeping the game fun and viable for what are two or three different games when you factor in SR rankings. The upper ELOs have consistently cited OTPs who can’t/won’t switch when countered as a reason

I get what you’re saying, but at upper ELO there are only a few characters that get hard countered- and they’re the ones that get reported when they won’t switch because of it.

If a OTP plays into their hard counter and refuses to switch, that actually IS against the rules. That’s actually the definition of poor teamwork.

Funny thing is, pros stacking is also an issue for match-making. And a 6-stack has unreasonably high MMR for match-making, putting you way out of your class if another 6-stack isn’t available to play against immediately.

Again, it’s not about being a OTP, it’s about picking a Torb or Symm into a Pharmercy and refusing to change. At the upper levels, that’s throwing.

Bottom line: Blizz is bleeding GM and Masters players, and one of the main reasons is match-making issues due to OTPs. They need to do something. This is what they’re trying.

Because it’s not about picking off-meta heroes, it’s about getting countered, being asked to switch by your team, and refusing or just leaving chat. In most cases at high levels, it’s the OTPs who do this. That’s the behavior Blizz is trying to curtail.

I play DVa if my Zen is taken (I also Tank Flex if needed, but I prefer DVa). There’s really no hard counter for her, even though Mei and Zarya give her problems if you try to stand your ground.

Man, Oobi looking fly AF these days.

That is an extreme over-simplification of the issue, but at the base level, yes. If you suck with a character and your team asks you to switch, you should switch. That is what Blizz wants, but only in Comp.

It isn’t about being a OTP specifically, but it is about the end result of being a OTP- not switching when hard-countered, playing a hero into a hard-counter and refusing to switch when asked.

Yes, refusing to switch when you’re getting hard-countered is against the spirit of what Blizz wants for Comp. Forcing 5 teammates to build around your niche character or lose isn’t the greatest look, either.

Specifically this is about One Trick Ponies, players who only play one character and refuse to switch when they’re getting hard-countered. That is not fun for teammates, and Blizz has started to crack down on them.

Blizzard’s message seems clear: report for the match you’re in, not for your expectations for the match to come.

This was my internet signature for over a decade. And then the crazies got a foothold on the internet.

Everyone expects it to sell, because Star Wars. But I bought the last game because Star Wars and felt ripped off.

The use of color is a very good point. I always noticed that everything is framed to look confined. Even the outdoor scenes have hard walls in the background, and the scene in his car is claustrophobic as well.

Cool, I didn’t know that! Someone earned their money adding that in.

You’re absolutely right, it violates the theme up to that point, but it just works. Whoever made that call did the right thing. It turned King’s “Aw, that was nice.” ending into an “I’m not crying, you’re crying.” ending.
