Good article. I cringed reading the title - simply because I’m so sick of hearing/reading about it, but some great points are made.
Yep. I only casually kept up with NMS - having mostly stuck with the mainstream interviews from Sean... And so I was prepared for the ‘chill the fuck out and just enjoy your surroundings’ approach... and I’ve been surprised at how much I’ve enjoyed it.

It’s also in-line with some of their original ideas. The original plan was to have some crazy cross-universe/dimension set-pieces and stories to tell.. but, of course, that was far too ambitious at the time.
Really, piracy is largely irrelevant for big AAA games.... And can actually be a good thing for a small dev who makes a legitimately great game... Though, it may not pay off until their next game... or until word-of-mouth has gotten around in time before the game became irrelevant or cloned.

It’s not literally about nothing... It’s about mundane minutiae. Shows usually had some contrived premise... Seinfeld’s was that they’re just 4 jackasses in New York with stupid first world problems, essentially.
I just don’t get the appeal of going live-action. Seems like, if done correctly, Nintendo could make mega bucks with some good CGI Mario/Zelda/Metroid/Pokemon movies.
It’d be tricky... but it could be done if Nintendo was willing to put as much love into them as they do with their first party games.
