I count at least 5 fictional characters. In addition to the two superheros there's Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, Michael Scott, and Andy Samberg appears to be included as his character in B99 rather than as himself.

The three months without benefits thing is pretty standard for all jobs these days (although maybe not for people who are already working for the company that has been acquired?)

The fact that something’s standard doesn’t mean it isn’t bullshit.

Is having to go back on a probationary period on a job that you are already working common? The company I worked for has been through acquisitions and mergers 3 times now, and at no point was I ever bumped back to “probationary” status. I kept my PTO, benefits changed a little but were still there.. etc..

The problem is that now their insurance will probably lapse, and any planned vacation they may have already had will probably not be honored.

Really? I’ve never had a full-time job that didn’t start to accrue paid time off and benefits within one month. Sometimes you couldn’t take it for a few months. I think that’s just exploitive; they know employees are grateful to have a paycheck at all in the sale while they look for something else with decent bosses.

I think the problem is calling Emmitt Till a “celebrity,” which carries a connotation of glamour and lightheartedness. If it had been a list of “important historical figures” I think the reaction would have been different.

I think that the ads are positive. Every woman I know shaves somewhere, but everyone has a different preference. Some don’t shave their pubes, but some shave it clean off.
