I love this show, and has never got half the publicity it deserves; given the refrain about how we’re in the Darkest Timeline, this is EXACTLY the kind of aspirational show nerds and non-nerds alike should rally around.

WOWOW.
Good god I’m sick of that art-style.
So long as they still have that important Ryan Reynolds phone-in money, eh?. (Hollywood) capitalism really makes no sense.
Well that’s kinda where I’m sitting: we’ve seen by now that Musk runs his mouth off and half the time never follows through. Running a gigantic, pre-existing social network isn’t easy and I’d slow to believe he’ll have the attention span or nutsack to go all-in on changing the service’s methods. As you note, there are…
Speaking as an obnoxious knob, specifically someone who has never actually signed up for Twitter, always finding it a pile of vomit on the arse of a dead possum ... I find this panic very surreal. Musk is a libertarian idiot but I expect in 6 months the right-wingers will soon rage again, when they realise he isn’t…
To quote Olivier, why don’t you just try acting?
Between this and The Boys, funny how these takedowns of mega-corporate capitalist greed only happen in Sci-Fi/ genre Amazon shows. Cos how could that ever happen in real life???
Lupin was incredibly enjoyable, but some of the twists and pivots really defied common sense. A huge plot point depended on the hero, a master conman, forgetting to make a back up of a vital piece of evidence.
It’s amazing how brittle some are, such that “America’s history is a bit shit” causes such paroxysms of denial and rage. Doesn’t say much for patriotism that it can’t acknowledge what it loves isn’t perfect.
Sooo.. what are capcom like for shutting down mods and fan productions? Cos as cool as this looks, I always assume the worst with IP lawyers waiting in the undergrowth.
My usual presumption is repression of one’s own urges, externalised ten fold through noisy opposition. The closeted gay or bi person remains a legitimate concept, even in more liberal democracies.
Oh I know, my spitball was pure fantasy and I own it. As you say the alternative to Putin will likely be someone as authoritarian or worse; which may be a disaster for the region if a country, with a struggling economy and collapsing population, decides to look outwards for some wealth/flex/popular support/etc. I…
Russia is a lost cause, from a democratic and societal point of view IMO. The wheels that’d require turning to get it anywhere near parity with other social democracies feel impossibly large. At a minimum, we’d have to wait for Putin to die, and hope his successor was weak enough, and pro-democractic groups strong &…
If you could subscribe without seeing thumbnails, maybe. And like I said I keep abreast of the foulness of AAA through here and elsewhere. But every time I saw the latest video, it just set my teeth on edge, added that little notch of depression I could do without. The dark must be countered with the light IMO.
I can see that with LWT, though for me Oliver balances the dark with humour that laughs into the abyss; you can tell he was a stand-up before a presenter. Sterling is twin barrels of outrage and anger, there’s rarely a cleansing of the palette with a joke. What little is jokey is lathered in despair. I do genuinely…
It was with some reluctance I finally unsubscribed from Sterling’s channel recently; They do important, critical work speaking to the problems almost overpowering the AAA games industry; but equally, there was a critical mass to their videos that made it hard to wanna keep watching. To enjoy their videos. The…
I just find it so hard to fathom how old that show has become.
Huh. Yikes. That episode is now 26 years old; just thought I’d share that, and make everyone feel a little more miserable.
Good luck with all your future ventures, and be kind and good to yourself, most importantly. It’s a sad reflection of this site the Goodbyes have transformed into that of relief for escaping. Lurked here enough in its pomp to be disheartened at how transparently toxic and inept the executive tier are.
