Disenchantment has been so disappointing, it's a wonder it has gone as long as it has. The actual character arcs have been interesting but almost every joke, gag and bit flatlined. Not even a patch on Simpsons or Futurama, even at their most rote or underwhelming.

Both, apparently. I recall his hatred of horses yes, but apparently has always wanted to make a Western - which is why so many of his films have some weird motifs here and there (Big Trouble, Vampires, Assault on Precinct 13 etc. etc.)

Reading about his life in Hollywood, sounded like _every_ production became a fight for each and every dollar; with studios often screwing him out of significant chunks of promised moolah. He’s definitely a director whose films and personality became more cherished after that struggle - so it’s strange how no producer

Would love for Carpenter to come back and do a couple last films; you'd have thought Blumhouse would be throwing money and pitches at him. Then again, maybe they are and he remains perfectly happy with his video games and music touring.

Time was that'd impress me, especially when I had more free time to burn. Now it is singularly unappealing when gaming time is so much more restricted. (#parenting). Besides, 500 hours just screams a muddled, unconfused game full of busywork and repetition; better 5, or 50 hours of tighter structure.

Same story as the author: played this a _long_ time ago during its first, shakier, and less content rich versions. Delighted to see it’s still going strong - and really looks leaps beyond what I played.  One of the few survival games I actually enjoyed; If my PC wasn’t such a potato I’d reinstall it...

Thank god someone else shares that view. They’re hideous landfill of the highest order; lazy reskins of pop culture icons for tat junkies. At least an action figure serves a nominal purpose. And if the above user is to be believed they're not even recyclable?? Fabulous. Each one made is killing the planet.

Yup, and if it’s not “black Friday”, retailers will have a “black label” sale around the same time. It's very recent here in Ireland, only in the last 5, maybe 10 years tops has Black Friday become a thing here. Always gotta be spending I guess.

Alongside communism, capitalism as applied by neo conservatism, has consistently shown itself a failure for the actual working populous of a country. The years and millions spent demonising (democratic) socialism via media mouthpieces has ensured no viable alternative will ever take hold without ... Seismic shifts in

To what end? It’s not like North Korea is on Americans’ lips of countries who can be considered legitimate adversaries. So if this were a false story, what value does it bring to do so? By all means, throw mud in the eyes of the State Dept - half the globe would have words with those there in charge - but it doesn’t

I remember that well; NK hustled its population into giant underground bunkers, never to be heard from again, and nobody in the South had the nerve - or interest - to check; whether they’re still alive, or it’s a giant tomb of zombies lol.

I was going to disagree, but then realised my neighbour currently has a leader whose tactic is precisely what you describe: Boris Johnson, playing the affable, posh fool so people don’t take him seriously while he guts the NHS and tries to rewrite the Human Rights Act.

Sometimes I feel North Korea is too glibly laughed at or dismissed as a silly little tinpot country; one not to be taken _too_ seriously, while we chortle at reports of Dear Leader scoring 18 holes-in-one in golf. I’d put some of the blame here on Team America too. Articles like this remind that it’s a vicious and

It’ll be interesting to see how reviews fall down between those who know of - or have seen - the anime, and those who haven’t / don’t care about the original version. Honestly, I just don’t care for anime in general; I accept it as an intentional, knowing blanket generalisation - but the trailer for this looked fun so

Looks fine to me; an adaptation should, by its nature, be avoiding a slavish recreation of the original material. It’s ok to aim for a different palette; and by the trailer it looks like the tone is still fairly offbeat.

As soon as I saw the headline, my brain said, “this was a Republican, right?” And yes, lo and behold it was a Republican. Guys, you really need proper multi party democracy.

Eat the Rich, TBH.

A remaster or Chinatown Wars would be good; a very underrated GTA that had some fun minigames using the DS stylus.

Amazon threw a lot of money at this, but at best this has been Most Competent Man: The Series. So, typical Clancy really.

Given the direction the series has gone, including an existence as a poster-child for gambling mechanics in video-games, “beloved” seems a little bit of a stretch as descriptors go.
