“Key to this decentralization is blockchain technology...”

Christ on a cracker, NFTs and blockchains are the worst fucking buzzwords of idiocy and here we are, using them as a foundation of the next web?

easy there, Sweet Trav. As a well educated person who considers himself in possession of more common sense than the average bear, I once found myself COMPLETELY surprised by a car. I still don’t know how it missed me, and I still don’t know where it came from. My phone was in my pocket and I was paying full attention

Same, same. I’ve had lane assists try to kill me and auto braking activate in the sun glare. Both in integrated systems and aftermarket ones. The tech is half-baked at best.

Probably because they shouldn’t be. They are flaky and unreliable. From what I’ve seen riding in other people’s cars that have them, they just become nuisance warnings that the drivers tune out completely. Safer cars make shittier drivers.

How many of those folks were walking distracted with their faces buried in their phone and wearing ear buds?

Cool, so we’re going to have way more expensive, heavy, flaky cars with more distracted drivers “in control” of them. Swell. Just swell.

Nascar has never been a huge fan of Live Streaming.

Also all the levelution in BF4 compared to... a single twisty boy in every map.

Oh, look, a search, mandated by the government.

For all of you going on about the privacy issues, the shit-show issues, the regulatory issues....allow the technician a moment at the mike.

Consider, the issues faced from a vehicle service perspective. Let’s have a hypothetical here....

It’s 2036. You just scooped up your 2026 Toyota Camry from the local buy here pay

*tips tinfoil hat*

Worse.

So, we already don’t have vehicles capable of pulling over to the side of the road as Torch has stated MANY times.  Now we want cars to use a second set of technology that doesn’t exist to activate the first set of technology that also doesn’t exist using parameters that are arbitrary and without universal standards.

in fact 6 times more so

Tired driving can be just as dangerous as drunk driving.

How many chronic drunk drivers do you know that have a new car? I’d argue that the percentage is very low. We’re all going to pay for something that the target audience won’t be using as they will simply drive cars that don’t have the technology. Drunk driving is a problem, but this isn’t a sensible solution, imo.

I’m all for preventing drunk driving, but fuck this kind of invasive nanny state technology. Apparently I’ll be driving a lot more vintage cars in the future, because I flatly refuse to drive a car that might suddenly decide I’m too tired because of the always on cameras monitoring my every move.

Drunk driving accounts for so few accidents in the country. Comapred to cell phone driver and sleepy drivers, DUI crashes make up a nearly meaningless portion of the crashes. But its low hanging fruit - no one in theri right mind would ever speak out in support of drunks - but this is misguided tech.
