I’ve been working at Ford for 6 years and have launched a few products (F150 and Super Duty plus a bunch of prototype builds of various cars). I feel like I know LESS about how an OEM gets a complete working vehicle out to customers now than I did before I started working.

It’s one of those things that always gets overlooked, but holy shit does it look hard to build a car. From design to manufacturing, everything is complicated. Like, some dude (more likely a team) had to design, test, and build a machine to deliver a seat at exactly there right time to exactly the right place, and it

Do you think truck driving is not a technical skill?

Pay more, train more. The amount of corporations who complain about a shortage of this staff, or that staff, and you ask them about their training schemes and they just shrug. It costs money to learn stuff, not just the money to pay for tuition and training, but money to fund all the regular living costs you still

Saw the perfect saying this morning:

Vice Grip Garage is a YouTube channel well worth checking out. Also, check Ronald Finger's Fiero build for a 1 off multi year wrenching journey

Vice Grip Garage is great, though I don’t super love all the ‘Merica in it.

Bad obsession motorsport, especially the project binky series.
there’s 33 full 30+ minute videos of funk music, bracketry, and dry british humour, oh, and did I mention they stuffed all the contents of a celica GT4 into a mini? that should be enough to keep everyone entertained until the next episode drops in 18 months

This is really, really easy. Mighty Car Mods.

I worked close with metal foundaries for a part of my job (I was responsible for production machining cast parts).

Before we do this ban, could we make sure that there are affordable versions for everyone?

California said in September that it would be banning the sale of new cars that aren’t zero emission by 2035, which it should probably just do right now instead of waiting.

Carbon neutral-ish fuels hold way more potential than EV’s, especially in the short term.

This is extremely premature. We are at something like 2% market share for EV right now. Manufactures are putting their hats in for EV in a big way but its not going to be a total switch for a long time.

This is equivalent to asking me to pick the date of my death.

I wish they’d just release a single player game on this engine in this universe. The gameplay and visuals are great, I just don’t need all the MMO stuff.

Less things in our life should be considered disposable, our cars least of all. I have a 30 year old toaster works perfectly. Shouldn't our cars last at least that long. If not for us at least for the environment.

You’d have to drive it a lot though cause manufacturing a 200KWh battery is HORRENDOUS for the environment, which is perfect for the audience of this car

I may be broken.

The good news is that I have a wrench on hand.
