The biggest issue getting the Tacoma with a manual is that you can’t special order them: dealerships make the order and you have to choose what they have. You don’t get to ‘tick the box’. I’m actually pretty convinced the take rate would be higher than that if folks were given the option.

Where did I say anything about living alone? You’re putting words in my mouth or arguing with someone else you’ve made up. I had a reliable $2k car when you could still find one (long before cash for clunkers, so before used car values went through the roof) and lived with my parents when I was home from school.

It’s a summer job. What college student who’s home for three months from college is getting a high-paying job? The ‘point’ of the student loan is it’s expected that with your degree you’ll unlock a high-paying job, but that it’s also going to be full-time and all-year round; not seasonal.

National minimum wage is $7.25/hour. Multiply that through by a 40-hour week and 12 weeks you only get $3,840 before taxes, rent, utilities, etc.

Right? Give me a summer job that can earn me $5,000 (a year’s tuition at community college) but also covers my basic needs.
