Yeah, I have a toolkit and a litre of oil with every vehicle I own — whether it has needed it or not.

Seems like a violation of the interstate commerce clause, but it’ll still screw up a bunch of people’s lives in the meantime before it can be done away with and is a bone tossed to a rabid base.
This isn’t the winning sales pitch they seem to think it is.
My original argument was that the used sales data were skewed to fewer manuals because it was solely CarMax data, which is more likely to be people looking for their grocery-getter than a private used-car sale is going to be.
Those are new-car sales you’re citing there.
Compare that with car-sales data from CarMax: The used-car retailer says that in 2020, only 2.4 percent of the vehicles it sold were equipped with a manual transmission, compared to 26.8 percent in 1995.
Was looking at replacing my car because I had fallen completely out of love with it, so I started trawling craigslist, marketplace, auction sites, etc. Saw a Saab 9-3 Viggen in Monte Carlo Yellow for sale, and I think it ended up going for only about $11k. I don’t regret it — I ended up getting what I really wanted —…
Unfortunately there are Porsche guys like that, too. :/
I sold my WRX, which was ok in terms of comfort (the worst part was the footwell was really tight and the pedals were a bit offset to, I assume, allow for room for the transmission tunnel) and bought the 996 as a daily driver and tourer. I am so glad I did.
Thing is: sportscars don’t have to be uncomfortable. My 996 is fast, light, handles beautifully, AND is comfortable for my 6'2", all-torso frame.
I will never forgive whoever decided we didn’t need vent windows any more.
God I want a Super Cub so bad; they look rad.
This is the greatest car racing mod I’ve ever seen and it’s had me in mild hysterics for a little while sitting at my desk.
Hey that sounds like some other idiot I know!
Gets an awful lot of negative attention when driving through rough areas, so not recommended for long road trips.
I hate the wildly-varying enforcement of this, but I also hate the wildly-varying enforcement of all American laws, so why should I expect this to be different?
I don’t see the appeal as an every-day replacement, especially because it requires the phone to have enough of a charge to be used, but it wouldn’t hurt to have it as a backup. I don’t love the idea of handing over my phone in a traffic stop, though.
