I can't really get so offended by reminders that there used to be distinct household roles for men & women in the past. Society changes, and to despise everything that came before us merely encourages those who come after to despise us.

I vividly remember one extraordinarily offensive commercial from the late 70s or early 80s. I only saw it once & never again after that. It was a commercial for a brand of fire ants powder. It featured a lynch mob, complete with torches & possibly nooses, rampaging from lawn to lawn, treating the fire ant mounds.

People are listening because not only did he predict Trump would win, he also offered some very entertaining analysis of how Trump was persuading—snookering, if you prefer—people to vote for him.

Someone, it may have been Scott Adams, said that everyone was wrong about Trump, but Silver was the least wrong.

One memorable role that is a pop cultural landmark is one more than most actors get. Kind of like F. Murray Abraham, peaking with his role as Salieri in Amadeus, & fading away after that. At least they made it to the summit.

Oh, agreed on the whole Identity As Shield From Criticism thing.

"Cut slack" for Ayaan Hirsi Ali? She's richly earned the respect of every person with a functioning conscience!

Free speech must be protected at the farthest, most unpalatable fringes, else there won't be enough space to protect our own free speech.

In my adult life, I have seen everyone to the right of Meals On Wheels called a fascist by some aggrieved or grandstanding progg, at some point. By all means pull the term back into proper focus, if you can. But in common parlance as it now stands, the word is just the Left's way of saying "bad dog!"

It's difficult for anyone, of whatever political persuasion, to really notice what is happening right in front of them, when it causes cognitive dissonance. So it bears spelling out: A lawful event held by an officially-sanctioned group at California's most prestigious university was violently broken up, possibly not

We all know who gets to label other people "fascists".

Hope you didn't go too deep in student loan debt, to be able to analyze issues like that.

Well of course you would never pummel anyone because progressives had relentlessly drummed them out of the herd. Few people ever take their attitudes that far. But, now that intelligent, thoughtful people have internalized and mainstreamed this cartoon notion that the straight white male conservative American

You've obviously forgotten the ground rules of progressive discourse: Whoever yells "Hater!" first and loudest is the winner.

Do note the progression of events that flow out of this attitude. "Racism against white people isn't really racism"? Well now, during and after the election, we've seen that snowball into "violence against white people isn't really violence". This will end badly.

In the previous wave of bannings, Reddit said they were doing it because the haters were coming out of their holes and harassing people in other subreddits. So now they're saying they're banning this one because it's getting too big?

For non-political reasons…

"This is the end…beautiful friend, the end…"

West is acting like a throne sniffer; those come in all colors.
