And to think, you could’ve had one of them all along for the cost of a V6 Mustang....

I sharpened the headlight like it is on the ‘16.

Had a 99 sl1. Miserable to drive but great gas mileage. Oil mileage not so good. Never broke down. Drove all over the country. Had some holes rusted through the rear floor so stunk after wet weather.

THE FBI. The silver lining in this situation was that we didn’t have to wait for the police to show up. I’d managed to find a quick fix to that problem all on my own.

co-worker had one of these. we all joked about the car but it was a riot when we took it out to lunch because he didn’t give a shit. gave him very few issues over it’s life. met its untimely demise via cadillac DTS. RIP saturn SL1, ya dun good.

AC compressors in these always sound like a tin can in a blender

Dead reliable and actually fun to drive! Will eventually chey the rings, but a quart of oil for 42 MPG is nothing to scoff at.

This is my car. In my driveway. It has 202,000 miles on it, and has required just under $500 in repairs since new. There are few parts on this car that cost more than $50. This is the best car GM has built in 50 years.

Mom had of these. It revved fast. Rev limiter was a fuel cutoff. If you weren’t paying attn.  hit 5500 the engine would shut off so fast you would lock the seatbelt while flying forward so fast.

Very cool.

I have also posted this exact car— I had a 95 SC1 that I bought in 2002 with 95k on the dial. It was fantastic, and was only killed by my father getting T-boned by an SUV while making a left.

I 100% second this nomination. The Saturn S Series is nasty cheap these days. Any year.

The presence of a passenger’s side mirror means it’s indeed an SL1...exactly like the one we had.

For the rattly econobox that it is, these are good cars. Had one as my first car, lots of memories. Only thing it ever needed was oil and a starter.

Edit: Ironically, this probably costs more than $2k.

I could hoon a leaf at that price and not feel bad about it when I get stuck in a ditch.

Live long and prosper!

Dude ....
