My boss bought a used Bimmer on eBay, and seems very happy with the car. He went largely by seller feedback, the seller had lots of transactions and a high rating.

Buddy of mine bought a Maxima with pics. I swear the car they sent wasnt the same car. The pics were flawless. This thing looked like it got into a wrestling match with a bear in a gravel pit in a blender. But he kept it because he doesnt like confrontation. Too bad it wasnt me cause Im only averse to murder.....so

I had not one, but two different bosses who bought Cessna 150s on eBay, sight unseen, no PPI. Both regretted the decision.

My car I learned on was 3 on the tree ‘64 Valiant 100. The car ran forever, maybe still is, somewhere.

I have bought exactly 1 car off eBay sight unseen. It was a no-reserve 2006 Boxster, and I won with a sniper bid of $18,433. Drove it 20k miles and sold 2 years later for $21,000. It was a lovely period in life, and I was shocked at how well it all went down.

YMMV with your local users, but if you are doing by auction you will have to list it several times as the winner will never bother getting in touch, Their Dog/Child/Brother bid on it, or they don’t want it anymore.

I buy BIN items if:

Truth. There’s also a vacant lot near a really busy intersection a couple blocks from my house that is really popular for people wanting to sell vehicles (cars, boats, ATV, etc). I’m actually surprised the city hasn’t cracked down on it because it gets pretty bad sometimes.

Dear Doug,

You just made me think of a good question: is eBay Motors feedback separate from regular eBay feedback? IE, could I get 100% feedback selling Beanie Babies and then shift a Ferrari Mondial?

I’ll just leave this riiiiiiiight here.

I’ve bought a few cars on eBay, all unseen, all at the low end of the market. Mostly worked out OK, apart from one grenading bottom end.

I’ve bought many, many, many cars sight unseen. Including a Range Rover Classic with no pre-purchase inspection. eBay doesn’t scare me. I just find Autotrader has a much larger selection.

I sold my 2006 R6 there at 3 years old, owned since new. Perfect condition, low miles, never dropped, just needed to be rid of it. And then did my brother’s early 2000's Z28. Great experiences each time.

My landlord did it, and seems happy with what he got. YMMV. I’d sure as hell stick to sellers with 100% feedback, though.

Great gif.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I write stuff for Autotrader, and also I sell my cars on there.

This needs to be a regular series of articles that happens on Jalopnik. More Stig powered posts.

I found them all on Final Gear before that site got stripped. Not sure where to look for them now.
