Of course the layoffs are related to the lawsuit. Kesha was the label’s only profitable artists. No Kesha, no Kemosabe.

The problem is few women will willingly work as prostitutes even if the job is safe and legal. There’s always going to be far more demand than supply so there’s always going to be sex slavery. When prostitution is illegal it lessens demand and makes it easier for police to find and rescue enslaved women.
Just looked it up. The Daily Beast is saying the judge thought Kesha’s refusal to accept the retraction offer was unreasonable.
Female.
I saw a screenshot of something on Twitter and they said the judge thought her refusal to accept the current offer to retract was unreasonable. She also thought Kesha’s workplace abuse situation wasn’t extreme enough.
Apparently the judge said Kesha acted unreasonably when she rejected the offer to retract the rape allegation and apologize.
This was my first thought as well. I’m sure she was really excited about being in this ad and oversensitive morons looking for an excuse to be offended ruined it for her.
She was 18 and fresh out of high school. Wendy should do a little research on the topics she covers.
Ideals are values and principles we should strive for. Western ideals are the best ideals in the world. It was the West that decided that slavery was immoral and that women should have equal rights. The problem is we often fail to live up to our ideals. Equality for all is a Western ideal but one we’re still not close…
Whenever I read about disturbing cultural practices, I always think of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. If a practice is cruel and unnecessary we should be willing to condemn it whether its part of our own culture or someone else's.
Only about 20% of rape victims report the attack to police. She’s actually better off going the civil route. Her odds of winning her case are higher.
The deal was that Kesha could work with other producers but under Luke’s label. So he’d still be in control of her. Sony didn’t explain the full details of the offer, which would have put her back to square one.
Keep in mind she’s accusing Luke of controlling and manipulating her as well. The management company that sued Luke and Kesha at that time also claimed he was manipulating her and that he forced her to break her contract with them. Its not unusual for victims to lie to protect their abusers even under oath.
Considering the seriousness of Kesha’s claims, Sony should have launched an investigation when she first complained to them and fired him if they concluded her claims are true. Instead they ignored her claims and continued to send young female artists to work with him. There are also still women signed to Luke’s Sony…
He got indicted because he was careless and shot a completely innocent person rather than someone engaged in a crime. He got a lenient sentence because he’s a cop. Most cops who kill white people don’t receive any punishment either. DAs feel compelled to protect cops because they have to work so closely with them.
White people get sent to prison so that can’t be right. My guess is don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.
The music industry is the only one that can potentially hold someone under a personal services contract for a lifetime. It allows for a level of exploitation that can’t easily happen in other industries.
Good for Brandy. More artists need to have the courage to stand up to the people who exploit and abuse them and think they can get away with it. I don’t understand how these contracts can be considered legal when one person can hold another under contract for a lifetime unless that person 100% submits to their…
Considering America’s history of help wanted signs that told blacks, Irish, Italians and Jews that they need not apply, this was a really moronic and shameful mistake to make. All they had to do was say they were casting roles for black or Latino characters.
Most rape victims are in their teens or early 20's. They often dont have much life experience and may have little idea where to turn for help. Many rape victims are fearful of telling friends or family what happened to them. Its not too shocking they would turn to the Internet for advice on what to do.
