    I think a mass shooting implies some degree of anonymity between the shooter and the victims. That's far from a concise dichotomy, I know. One personal example that occurred in my home town was a SBI agent shot and killed his ex wife, her boyfriend, and lastly and presumably accidentally, his own young son.
