Other countries have their own concerns. A nationlike Japan with a largely monoethnic population wouldn’t perceive things the same way Americans do, but that doesn’t mean minority representation is wrong or uncalled for. Those groups just lack the voice to make their concerns heard within that region.

Well the first question would naturally be: are you cis? Het? White? Male? If you answered yes to any of these, you’re biased against characters and people who aren’t. You see yourself as the “default.” Imagine if every game had nothing but gay black men in it. Perhaps after living for decades with only gay black men…

This was a definite improvement over Disgaea 2 and 3.  Still not anywhere near as good as the first one, but worth playing all the same.
