A lot of games can sum up gameplay well, but that assumes you already know the gameplay. Your first two examples work well for getting some initial info across, but Vampire Survivors doesn’t tell you much without seeing the gameplay, particularly in the recent surge of vampire games.
Honestly, if you knew absolutely nothing about a game besides its title, it’d be impossible to accurately guess the genre of 95% of games.
I always appreciate when a good discussion can be had.
You seem to be missing my point, and I also don’t think you’re honestly isolating game titles from info you know about the title.
Do you often have an accurate idea of games based solely off their name?
I bet MH would’ve done better in the west sooner if they actually released it on more consoles.
When I first watched a trailer, I had no interest. Then a friend recommended it so I tried it out.
The name is literally the first words of the subtitle/blurb before clicking.
I mean... Saints Row 3 did this I think? Which was over a decade ago.

Thank you. I was taken aback when I saw “one of the best shooters ever” in the headline.
They were only ever pretending.
No, you’re good. I agree with what you said about someone needing to take action on the company side of things. I was kinda just bringing it full circle because several people are here having a conversation about it and I think it’s worth pointing out.
it’s something they have to demonstrate a desire to do something about (even if it’s not a sincere desire)
lol you “play most indies” but are only interested in a few genres? You listed twice as many genres you don’t like.
Good on you, Zack.
If a game is still massively popular, it doesn’t really matter how old it is. Maybe you missed the part about it being in the top 15 played games on Steam and making Valve tons of money? Typically companies want to keep making money.
I don’t know how to break this to you, chief, but that belly extension is the same piece in both scenes.
I don’t play Overwatch.
