Economics is generally classified as a social science. I am not the one who gave it that label. At least in economics, studies tend to use at least marginally proper scientific tools and make quantitative claims that can be falsified.

While social sciences are not natural sciences like biology or physics norare they quantitative sciences like computer science nor are they science-related field of importance like applied mathematics and engineering, the social sciences still have some validity and usages, like economics, certain parts of psychology…

I think they meant the issues of justice and equality within the science discipline and as it relates to people going into science. To be sure, this is a serious issue, as it is in many fields, but this is also not what the march was about.

It is still not science though, and kind of defeats the point of the original march, which was solely supposed to advocate science and not take a stand on social issues or partisan politics except as they directly related to scientific truth and the funding of research.
