As someone who works in aviation I’ll still always say this country messed up not getting in on high speed trains earlier. There’s no reason the best option to go between city pairs like Houston - Dallas or Detroit - Chicago is to fly.

What you are suggesting could actually be a good “out” for the automakers. They could include a cheap battery operated AM radio in the trunk/cargo area for emergencies.
