You could buy a car for that much money.

I bet you could talk this grandpa-owned Lincoln Mark VIII down to $5k.

I just looked them up. They still have pretty awful reliability problems that places them right down with the likes of Land Rover. So... not sure what changed between when they came out versus now.

If I had money, I’d tell you what I’d do. I’d drive down to Dwight Phillips Auto Sales and buy this Grand Marquis. (https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicle/691424338)

I’ve spent most of my life in western NY and dealt with the snow and ice for a long time. But we’ve been getting fewer dustings, fewer flurries, and fewer big storms. I figure in 10 years it’ll stop snowing almost entirely, and we’ll be up here enjoying the temperate weather and access to fresh water as the west coast

I prefer my current plan of living places where it doesn’t snow. I’ve been a big fan since that happened.

Outside of Jalopnik I’ve never seen or heard literally anything about this company.   Going to be a very steep hill to climb.

After the 10th time, it’s free!

First thing that struck me is the color. Lots of the British versions in red, green, and blue, have never seen one in ruby red metallic (?), don’t know what colors Innocenti used, but I don’t really think this one looks very good on it.

You gotta upgrade to the BrightDrop Zevo line for fancy features like that!

no... this couldnt be it. It must be that we gave everyone 700 dollars 3 years ago, so no one wants to work

This. People focus on the pay, but the other stuff plays just as big a part in my experience. Restaurant work means you’re working when other people are having their leisure time, for the most part. Even if you like restaurant work, it’s not sustainable long-term for a lot of people. Eventually, you want to have some

So working horrible hours for bad money while dealing with rude customers?

100% this right here. I’ve worked in this industry for 30+ years, and it sucks. It’s always been shitty, and I think the pandemic really just open up a new world for a lot of people. They started to realize that their job didn’t have to be shit, their managers didn’t have to be shit, their pay didn’t have to be shit,

I was just going to say the same thing. By unreliable... you mean a bad thermostat? The rest is normal maintenance! An A4 is not a Bugatti... there are many independent mechanic shops that can do basic services for cheap. No need to put yourself in debt for something newer unless you really just want a new car.

Because if the entry was “I have this 2017 Audi and I’m gonna keep it, just wanted to let you know!” We wouldn’t have a WCSYB column...this is for entertainment purposes.

Remind me why there is a desire to drop a car that is paid off just because you have to pay for normal maintenance? US materialism and privilege at its finest.

Instead of “The Great Resignation” I prefer “The Fed Uprising”.

Yea, people really forget the logistics of having to repair a car. Breaking down at home is best case scenario. Crank position sensor fail at a busy intersection at night? Not great. Tow trucks, canceling plans, unexpected expenses, arranging a rental. If you’re down with the sickness, awesome, but most people are

These things still look good, Does anyone know their temperament?
