Or a RAV4 Prime / pickup mashup would be more useful. It doesn’t have to be at all offroady, which would cannibalize Taco sales, but it needs to be large enough to be useful as a cargo hauler. Time to get innovative, like adding an extendable bed that can grow from 4' to 7' Long.

Why not both? Wagons are dead in America and small trucks are slowly making a comeback. So maybe in two decades wagons will come back in fashion?

i’d much rather have a corolla wagon which would be like an elongated hatchback.

For alot of people all they need is a 3ft bed, with the tailgate down and a bed extender you get nearly 5ft. I used to work at a Ford dealer and met a ton of people looking forward to the maverick because they wanted something that they could put plants, dirt, mulch, etc in the back of and wanted to downsize from what

THIS^ This is the only answer.

Dear Toyota, please build me a Taco with the Prius plug-in drivetrain.

Unsung hero of Blues Brothers

Ford is doing just fine, tech-wise. They’re investing in the technology and manufacturing of EVs. Their problem, like many other uniquely American car companies, is that they’re caught up in false dealership numbers that say the average person wants a $55,000 car, ($65k average EV).

I’m only slightly embarrased to say this was one of many reasons I purchased mine 30 years ago...

136 hp, 2WD and 32 mpg highway seems pretty sad, but I guess it isn’t too far off from the competition.

Maybe I should crawl under my pickup and put air in the spare tire.  Maybe I should replace that spare tire since it came with the truck 16 years ago.  I don’t know, seems like a lot of work.

The only real things holding me back are the lack of freedom-coupons and living deep enough in the woods of Whitetrashistan that I’d risk infuriating the local population of semiconscious hate-driven dinglefucks just by owning one.

All cars are saddled by the 7% interest rate, data collection, and arguably the tech obsolescence.

I’d also like to mention the trend with Manufacturers and dealerships:

Dealership: Orders everything in black, white, and gray. Pushes sales on the cars they have in stock.
Manufacturer: *arms up in the air* Hmmm, I guess people don’t want to buy colorful cars, let’s stop offering colorful cars.

That’s my thing. people like to connectelectric” with “computer” but most ICE vehicles have been computer controlled with 4g transmitters that allow OTA updates for years now. hell you would have a harder time finding analogue anything in a modern ICE because wiring a digital controller is FAR CHEAPER than

What about that series of complaints doesn’t apply to their newest ICE vehicles?

Weird. Normal people don’t want to buy a $50k car with 7% interest rates, tech that’s outdated faster than a modern smartphone, a business model that’s constantly pushing microservices, and tracks all your movements with no way to opt out or find out where that information is going?

There’s a good metric to use here to compare late-model used with new:

I am starting the process to sell a 1997 Audi and making the posting I was astounded at the kinds of cars that could be had so cheaply (under 10k).  Why anyone would spend 5x as much on a new car considering all the options is beyond me.  Yes I am aware of the pitfalls of a used car, but come on.  There are plenty of
