THIS is literally the definition of car-brained. Where you’ll make any and every excuse on why cars are necessary and prioritize cars over changing habits.

It seems like hammer-nail thinking: our urban planners in North America saw the rise of the private car as a panacea for actual planning work: rather than working with the geographical constraints to build urban centers that prioritized accessibility for all (including those without cars) to reach a wide range of

I mean, I bet if you search for “tesla” in the pornhub search window, you’ll get more hits than “polestar”. Actually maybe Im wrong.

VHS beat Betamax. Blu-Ray beat HDDVD. Telsa beat (whatever the fuck we’re talking about.)

Counterpoint. Old weird Ford club/crew cabs used on railroad tracks, municipal departments, telephone companies, etc. are dope as hell.

Yep. They existed but were uber-rare and only for specialized use, it seemed.

I just got a Subaru that has auto-dimming side mirrors. It is absolutely one of my favorite features ever in a car.

This is extra fun when you are in a car and the new silverado behind you has the biggest, brightest possible lights in existence shining directly into your back window. So, what do you do? Dim the mirror. Oh wait, they also made that same truck FU wide so now it is still blasting your eyes in the side mirror.

Trucks were so damn useful back in the day. Easy to load, easy to unload, carry about anything, especially if you had the 8 ft bed. I remember climbing over the sides of my dad’s 79 C-10 to help load and unload when there was someone using the Tailgate.

I’ll say it as its so super obvious but to me its the whole Bro-Dozering of all trucks now. Doesn’t matter if its a Tacoma, Ranger, Silverado or whatever. Its so god-damned tiring too. Because most of it looks like things that high school kids would think looks bad ass. Except its most grown adult men driving these

yes we need a modern Karman Ghia and Caddy,

They could have green-lighted the ID Buggy.

vw also changes executives so frequently as soon as theres a regime change anything goes. Also if the ID BUZZ is a massive sales success the next lever for VW to pull is “more modern classic cars now!”

They could have created a Beetle-inspired ‘rugged’ crossover and called it a Dune Bug.

Came to say the same thing - truck drivers, waiters and waitresses, agricultural workers, etc. etc. Plenty of people, too few employers willing to pay the going rate (or a living wage).

There’s a shortage of employers willing to pay pilots what they’re worth.

As a New Jersey native, I’ve never understood the point of gas attendants.  I’ve lived in other states for most of my life and it would always bug me when I would come back and visit family and stop at a gas station only to sit and wait for someone to come around and do something literally any driver is capable of

Here’s a not so secret secret, insurance companies don’t want to cover anyone. That’s how they make money, by taking your money and giving you nothing in return, then when they do HAVE TO do something, they fight you for every penny hoping you give up. Then the next year they raise your rates because you dared to use

I don’t know whether this is heart over head or not, but my first instinct is to leap up, pound the table, and scream:
