Where I grew up in NY you get impounded if caught w/ an out of date sticker. An those impound fees are over $100 just to start. Then the days start adding hundreds of more dollarstdollarsto the tab if you’re, let’s say, a week from payday you might as well sign the car over you're going to owe so much for impound fees.

I respectfully diagree. I mean, if your car is only 18 months old then paying the 20 bucks for a sticker shouldn’t be an issue. It’s the people who find out they need hundreds to thousands of dollars of repairs to get safely on the road who decide they’re not paying that nor will they buy a new car OR put anymore…
