Titles like ARMA do have those kind of mechanics, I think it’s just that there’s not a lot of mainstream desire for it in AAA games.

I’ve never particularly thought that characters have to be “likeable” for stories to be worth reading or watching, and I’ve never quite gotten people’s demand that leads be “likeable”. All a character has to do is be compelling.
