My grandmother gave me her 2000 Special Edition Miata NB when she retired and quit driving.  She wanted the 6 speed because the commute to her last job was all backcountry roads.

This failure is the real reason Toyota claimed they thought the future was in hybrids. They had a roadmap of like 8 vehicles that would be built on this platform and released by 2025, and none of the others materialized. This platform was non-competitive garbage.
