That’s why I like my Defender, it has permanent 4x4 via a 3rd diff so it runs in 4x4 all the time. And no “chatter” unless I was silly enough to lock the diff on tarmac.

That’s a differential issue not an axle issue.
Who the fuck cares? You know what is definitely not legal? Trying to hit people with your car.
That is the issue of a locked differential- I don’t think it has anything to do with the axle type.
I’m more wanting to be able to slip it. Old school traction control ;)
I’ve stopped doubting anything Christian says at this point. Somehow 100 employees with an autoclave in a repurposed hanger are able to consistently do what no other car company is attempting.
A DCT with a clutch, and I’m sold. While seamless up and down are nice, there are times when a clutch is handy (no pun intended). It’s the same request I have of cars. I don’t want an automatic, I want a manual transmission with two clutch packs.
To me it’s just the whole process- it’s the clutch and the shift and the move and the stop and the clutch and the neutral and the clutch and the shift and the move and the brake ad infinitum. And honestly, that goes for my car these days... I think that’s part of my attraction to electric cars and bikes- no…
I ride in Chicago too and could give a flying f*ck about shifting at this point. Yeah, I get some folks like to feel like they are a motoGP wannabe, but I am looking just making my ride less burdensome in heavy traffic.
So, you’re telling me I get to watch Bike guys fight the same losing battle that Car guys have been having for a decade now over rowing your own? This is going to be fun. There has been far too much shade thrown at the NC700x (and the Can-Am, and scooters in general) from the internet-motorcycle-enthusiast crowd, What…
Agreed - but in my opinion, having one seamless DCT designed transmission is better than having a conventional one with several additional technologies piggy-backing it to perform as wanted. With all the auto-blipping & engine-braking modules, slipper clutches, & quickshifters added to modern bikes, if a DCT makes the…
I think that the most recent Honda DCT trans debuted on the ill-fated (IMHO) VFR1200F that launched in 2009. I say ill-fated because it might have been too much of a departure from the familiar VFR800 platform in terms of styling and feature content for the market to swallow. I don’t know what the sales numbers…
I just don’t want to shift with any buttons. Gimme a foot lever and you can throw whatever trickery you want into the gearbox.
Because I don’t have the space to park them? I don’t have the money to buy them? I don’t have the desire to maintain them? Because I don’t want to be driving home from work, realize I need to pick something up and have to go home for a different vehicle?
Still not getting it... While you're translating to English, don't forget this one.
Can you type that in English?
