People like to scoff at the notion of rape culture, but here we have a predator who had an entire staff (including doctors) devoted to maintaining his sex slaves and making them available to him whenever he wanted.

I hope that's true, but after the Cosby shenanigans, I'm not optimistic.

And he keeps getting away with it. And even after all of this, people continued to book him at shows and fests, etc. Ridiculous. Let’s hope this is the end of the line for this piece of garbage.

And he had a career for 25 years?!?

Don’t turn this into victim blaming, even as a throwaway line. You need to read more about the experiences of people in abusive relationships. There is a cycle of emotional manipulation that abusers use to escalate dependence and prevent people leaving them.

His career is pretty much over anyway. I doubt he’s even getting much on residuals anymore. So there’s not much to lose there. But, yeah, prison would be fair.

I mean, what kind of career did Manson really have before? He always struck me as mainstream America’s idea of a SPOOKY person and that kept him relevant, as did teenagers who wanted to signify rebellion but found death metal too icky. I guess he’s tried to be more serious in recent years but it doesn’t seem to have

Why is it hard? Bullies and abusers seek out vulnerable people. This is news to you?

It’s the kind of thing that might be construed as an oversight in a one-off scenario, but gains significance as part of a wider pattern of behavior.

Yeah that stuck out to me, but people like him are also well practiced at gaslighting.

Will be interesting to see what actually happens vis-à-vis his career… I mean, Weinstein and Cosby were convicted and sent to prison. Unless there is a criminal conviction there will be people (to be clear, not me) who simply don’t believe any of it to be true.

I’m really starting to dislike this Brian fella

Wait, could Moist be Wash’s cousin? Firefly-Dr. Horrible crossover confirmed!

Take the first option. If there’s anything to learn from Lynch’s oeuvre, it’s that hunting for clues only ends in misery and destruction.

While this does not relate directly to the article, I want to take this opportunity to urge anyone with more than a passing interest in Lynch to seek out and find *David Lynch: An Art Life*, an excellent documentary that focuses on Lynch’s creative process and ideas, with a touch of personal history thrown in. It’s

You need to use that opening line as often as possible. Livens up any occasion.

I feel like Gervais has always wanted to be seen both ways: brazenly cruel and "anti-PC" as well as introspective and well-meaning. The issue is that he doesn't seem to understand why certain things he's produced are funny or well-liked, so he shoots in the dark to try to replicate his previous success. I've liked a

I am totally with you on this. Ricky is almost like 2 characters - pre-fame Andy Millman and post-fame Andy Millman. I like his writing but he, himself, is often the opposite and totally insufferable. I don't know which is more truthful - fake laughing at Karl Pilkington Ricky or the person who writes those

I'm mad at Ricky Gervais for a lot of things: for the monstrously dehumanizing way he talks about fat people; for
