Actually, from all reports RBG genuinely liked Scalia, not just because they shared hobbies. He was apparently quite fun to be around, with a very quick wit. Still a terrible Justice, but I’d take a Scalia over an Alito any day of the week; simultaneously more conservative and less interesting.

Kagan also became good friends with Scalia after joining the bench, which, ugh. I think Sotomayor at least had the decency just to be work friends.
