I have memories of seeing this movie shortly after it came out and being legitimately surprised that Kline’s character turned out to be gay. As I recall, the marketing made it seem as though he’d been outed as gay when in fact he wasn’t, and that the plot would be about the humorous ways a non-traditionally masculine

My Sourhern father in law claims to love them, though I’ve never seen him actually try one.  I had it a few months ago, and when I reported back on my disappointment, he said where I went wrong was not toasting the bread. I have yet to try it again with that refinement though.

Sometimes a respected publication you felt you could trust will let you down. Maybe they dumb down their content, maybe they publish dubious arguments for war in Iraq. But Deadspin’s editorial stance on Gritty, coupled with their well-stated position on whether or not Donald Trump should go fuck himself, make me

This is a good mascot.  Where 90% of mascots go wrong is having some kind of tough-looking or mean expression on their face - basically a minor league sneer.  All mascots should be goofy and fun-loving.

This is not the Dan in Real Life sequel we’ve all been waiting for.

You’d think such a loud noise would really disturb the parrot.

Here’s where you went wrong. I believe a bagel should be enjoyed open-faced so as to get the proper ratio of bread to topping(s) in each bite without having to take overstuffed bites.

True that.  Just watched the dubbed version with my young daughter and was impressed by the dubbing.

Depends on what you want to do. I’ve been there in October where you could chill on the beach in light clothing (prob not bathing suits), and it’s great weather for bike rides, long walks, etc. But it can also get pretty chilly. And a lot of restaurants are closed down by then, but there are still going to be some

Also should add that September’s generally the best month to go on vacation in general.  The crowds disappear and the weather’s generally more pleasant than in mid-summer.  This especially holds for any of the big national parks.

Hi from Ocean City! My wife and I have long known this, but the depressing thing is that after this we only have one more year until our oldest starts school and we’ll lose our precious post-labor day beach week.

Totally

This is actually a very good kind of pet peeve to have. Mine are when people use sojourn as a synonym for journey or use prodigal to mean that someone left and then came back [cough - deadspin - cough]

Thanks, Leonard.

I thought the chart on this page of historical circulation revenue an. advertising revenue was really interesting. During the 60s when (I assume) newspapers were pretty healthy, circulation revenue was about half of advertising revenue (so roughly a third of total). But then advertising revenue skyrocketed up to the

This blog is full of correct takes. Though I do pretty much always toast the bread on a tomato sandwich to get that texture contrast. And I like to use fancy fleur de sel salt on it (also for the crunch).

Well if it’s set 20,000 years ago, that’s well before PIE would have existed.  Maybe proto-PIE?

Ok, America, it’s time to chuck the entire sport of football in the ocean where it belongs (not to say assholes like this don’t exist in other sports, but football is practically designed to breed them).

It’s true, they are. I especially love the Independence Hall logo patch. But it vaguely offends my sensibilities that they’ve been wearing the blues at home.
