This goes for teachers also.  I do not want to talk at all after the first week of school.  All I want to do is surf the internet and be quiet.  Can someone fill my husband in on this??  He thinks I am just being weird.

I teach at a middle school about a mile from a military base.  A lot of kids whose parents are military call me ma'am.  I can tell you, teaching 8th grade, being called ma'am is the least of your worries.  13 year olds can be a cantankerous bunch and they will call you everything but a child of God.  

Are we leaving out the important fact that Chipotle sucks?  They could stand to use some seasoning.

Middle school math teacher weighing in here . . . Mechanical pencils are the only way to go.  I loathe stopping a lesson every 10 seconds while someone sharpens their pencil.  Also some kid always wants to stick their 2 cm long pencil in the sharpener and get it stuck.  No!  Just use a mechanical pencil. 

I saw that school and wondered if I could get a job at a school like that. I am an actual teacher with 20+ years in the classroom and I just see the system crush our students of color. This looks like a really rewarding opportunity. Wish there were more schools like this and even one in the district I teach in.

This is something all POC need to do, namely make supporting black owned, or minority owned, businesses.  Not just with some brown workers, I want to support brown owners.  We need to hit people where it hurts.
