But that's not what's happening. Unless you have some proof that stories by minorities are being weighed more favorably for solely that reason.
They didn't. It was actually pretty subtle.
The Long Sun books are great, but they fall into a sort of trope of Wolfe's which is to have an almost messianic protagonist who is beyond reproach. Horn in the Short Sun books is much the same (though to a slightly lesser degree) since he's following Silk's example, and Able in the Wizard Knight books is the same…
Right, but I don't think it's one or the other. Just because one playing field isn't level doesn't mean the other is. It's certainly possible to tilt the playing field in favor of minorities for the sake of "diversity." I just don't think that's what's happening here.
Your definition of PC elitist makes no sense. An elitist is, by definition, someone who feels superior to others.
Okay, then let's just agree to call them assholes.
I didn't say they were right. Quite the opposite, in fact. I just think that misrepresenting their position gets us nowhere.
Only those who find their humor in condescension.
Hipster: elitist sub-culture that possesses a sense of superiority based upon their taste in a particular form of media (typically music). Goes out of their way to differentiate themselves (often condescendingly) from the less discerning masses.
That Black Flag glitch happened to me several times.
No, I think they're just wrong.
Fine, if they're elitists "in fun," then they aren't hipsters, they're trolls. Do you really think that's better?
I'm a PC gamer. I'm just not an elitist dick about it. It's elitism that makes a hipster.
I agree that they are as well. I just don't think it does anyone any good to misrepresent or oversimplify their position.
This is really the best answer. One of a handful of works of actual genius I've ever read.
I didn't say I agreed. In fact I said just the opposite. I'm just clarifying their position, because misrepresenting it does no one any good.
I'm saying it was not gritty for the time. It was gritty for 1966, which doesn't matter because it came out in 1989.
I'm replying to this comment because Kinja won't allow me to reply to your other one.
You're not a very good troll.
