When my local paper started running Zippy, there was a backlash. So many people wrote in to say that they hated it that the paper ran an editorial and then either got rid of it or moved it off the comics page (I can't remember which).

This reply is actually to @avclub-7cf12ec23b16390f64b0f52e65a7ac1d:disqus , but it won't let me reply to his comment. Anyhow, I thought there was something somewhere about the Queen being a result of Hugh. Except that as I type this I remember that in First Contact there's a whole thing about her remembering Locutus

It occurred to me reading this review that all those terrible admirals are perhaps the reason Riker was so resistant to a promotion: it would have put him one step closer to the admiralty. Or maybe he feared that if they promoted him they'd feel the need to promote Picard too. He just didn't want his friend to turn

As I remember the tale, this scene was mostly an excuse to let Hawking be in an episode of Star Trek. He was at Paramount for a project of his own and basically asked to be on the show.

Beyond the fact that it serves to make everything a little tough to follow, the problem I am having with the deep nesting is that it makes it hard to spot new comments. It used to be that I could read all the comments, then come back later and just scroll to the end of each thread and see if there was anything new.

It could have been interesting, it could have even worked, but I don't know if I would have liked it. I know I was pretty pissed when ANGEL (SPOILERS, sort of) did something similar, killing off one character and keeping the same actor on playing a different, though somewhat related, character.

Or, and I guess this could be considered SPOILERS, though I'm just half-remembering episode(s) that I haven't seen in years, Tom ends up in the Maquis, right? How much better would Voyager have been if there'd been a Riker on board?

I just Need to see if I can still post comments through a proxy with this new system.

Oi, I should probably just not try commenting here from my iPod; it never goes well.

Yeah, while I did enjoy this story, it wasn't even my favorite serial that I watched this week. So far, my experience with classic Who is limited to the stories covered here and a couple others (The Edge of Destruction, The Aztecs, The Keeper of Trakken,Yeah, while I did enjoy this story, it wasn't even my favorite

So, the new game with the new comments will be flagging everything Morn says, yes?

My biggest concern with the comment changes is that they won't work through a web proxy. AVClub is blocked at work (as a "videogames"site) and I spent months trying to find a proxy that would allow me to log in and comment here. I only found one that worked a couple weeks ago; I'd hate to have that taken away.

Amazon Prime
The entire franchise is now on Amazon Instant Video. All seasons (as far as I can tell) of all four five series are free with Amazon Prime, though the movies are pay-to-watch.

I was surprised when I read on IMDb that this was her last episode. All Good Things… seems like exactly the sort of episode she's usually in.

Part of the problem with Heineken (and Corona) is that the green (or clear) bottle doesn't block light as well as your standard brown bottle. So Heineken on tap is actually very likely to taste better than Heineken in a bottle because the keg protects it from light damage.

Star Trek TNG CCG
I've seen all of TNG before, but most of the episodes only once. I'm watching along with these reviews, and some of the episodes I remember well, some of them not at all, but throughout there have been moments where a character, planet, etc. sparked an instant, but very limited memory. These moments

I think part of it is that I wasn't really of an age to (or maybe just didn't) care about deliberately seeing every episode of a show until that sort of thing was common and relatively easy. I do know that my wife saw every episode of Friends on its original airing until she left the country for a semester in 2003.

I almost got an MFA in Writing Young Adult Fiction. In stead I just have my BA in English Writing. And that is why I've worked retail and customer service since graduation.

Maybe this show is just a front for one about the Russian mafia.

You're right, of course, and asking this is probably asking them to "explain the gun," but there's a reason I own all the technical manuals.
