I expect that will come up later. I hope. Otherwise, fan fic! Or, it could just be that Mulder is comfortable enough with Skinner to vent his spleen and know it won't impact the friendship.

Hi! Glad to see you commenting. I read that scene, given what followed, that Mulder, O'Malley, and Sveta were planning on a conspiracy meeting. Mulder mentioned that he didn't invite Scully because he didn't think she'd be interested. Scully read it as he was potentially interested in Sveta or hooking up with her

Scully did not leave that way, and all was forgiven for Mulder in IWTB.

Sein Und Zeit/Closure does not, in fact, show that Samantha was abducted by the Santa Claus man. Not even in Scully's perspective, as they never saw Samantha in the footage from the security cameras. According to her journal, she was abducted several times with a variety of tests performed and returned to the CSM

Somehow forgot to say: Yes. I think that X-Files purists is a perfect descriptor. And I hope Jordo stops by.

Nutshell arc (further in depth, go look at eatthecorn, com): Starts out as a lackey/spy/assassin for the Syndicate, breaks away and asserts his independence (though he continues to roadblock Mulder while simultaneously giving him clues), eventually returns to the Syndicate to destroy it from the inside while doing

So, I realize this is likely an unpopular opinion around these parts. But. Carter, while he has an affinity for unwieldy purple prose and the occasional WTF (Fight Club), is pretty good writer. I wouldn't put him at the top of even The X-Files writers' list, but he wrote some amazing episodes. Including, but not

Living non-hunter/assassin aliens seen: Jeremiah. Josh Exley.
Alien bodies: E.B.E. Anasazi. The Erlynmeyer Flask (alien fetus). 731 (though this one might have been alive somewhere in the episode, I'm putting it here).

I loved it. I carved out a comment space for those of us that were on the Classics reviews of the show and you are welcome to hop into that thread because us X-Files Purists have to stick together. :)

Yes! I didn't forget, not really, but had a moment where I had far too much adrenaline to proofread a comment I wrote. :)

Oh, yes. Kim Manners is the best television director. And the best one to never win an Emmy for direction. Because he should have. Multiple times. And I think there were elements in this episode in which Carter was paying homage.

We're outliers together!

Thoughts: I loved it. I was curled up on the couch with a friend and had chills and excited squeeing at all the right places. Now, I do wonder about what seems to be a retcon of the mythology, but I do think that it's a lie. A lie to feed the truth, as Mulder said in Redux. And that sort of thing is why I've always

Carving out a spot for and @Jordo @The Waltmobile and anyone else from the Classics days. Since we talked about that a couple days ago.

Yes. Because Mulder with the resources of the FBI (in addition to his outside sources) is much more likely to find the truth. Mulder with his support system - including Scully and Skinner - will make him all that much more dangerous to the project.

I'm going to say no. I'm going to say no because I don't think we're looking at an entirely new mythology. I think we're looking at a smokescreen to send Mulder off on the wrong direction so that he doesn't get too close to the truth.

He was also in the opening credits for Season 9. At which, I had the exact same reaction. Love seeing it again!

We knew that. Most of the X-Philes as of the 7th season finale, Requiem. Confirmed by the 8th season finale. And explicitly stated in the 9th season finale. (Which I used to call the series finale, but guess not anymore!)

Krycek was murdered by Skinner in the 8th season finale. And showed up in the 9th season finale as a ghost who could shut a door and touch Mulder's shoulder. I haven't heard that Nic Lea is coming back for this, as much as I'd like him to. Okay, as much as I'd love him to show up. I miss Krycek.

Maybe. But I found it incredibly satisfying watching just the mythology episodes in a row. Not saying it's everyone's bag, but I'm not sure it's fair to preclude someone else from coming to their own decision on the mythology part of the series. So I'm giving another perspective.
