I'll probably wind up watching it eventually. But it's nice to know that a person with opinions I respect enjoyed the show. It's reason enough to give it a whirl.

Yeah, I know what Shiban said about it. But it's just such an awesome potential callback to something significant to Mulder, the story and Duchovny that I just have to go with my sentimental tie between the Anasazi story and this episode. :)

Both Duchovny and Anderson have addressed the "animosity" rumors from the series' run in several interviews. It basically boils down to the troubles in any relationship compounded by spending 16+ hours a day with each other in the stress of filming and then having to spend precious days off doing photo shoots and

Just wait til we get to The Truth. I'll have to make a post just for that, considering how many I remember having for that episode.

Oh, thank you! I appreciate that a lot.

Mostly, I just think it's cool that I was able to provide something for you considering how often you provide things for other folks on here. I feel like giving myself a gold star. :)

The wiki is a paraphrase of what he says in Examinations. The key note isn't actually on page 204. Here's exactly what he says:

That scene was not Anderson's finest hour on the show. She looks at him, but I'll be damned if I know what she's thinking and usually when Scully puts on blank face I still know approximately what she's trying not to show.

If I were to watch, it would be for the storytelling and its merits as a TV show. I rarely watch anything just for one actor/actress. :) I've heard basically what you said here, that the first season is great but the subsequent ones are disappointments and that's what has kept me from watching so far. I tend to stick

Yeah, I definitely think that a boat was missed somewhere with William. Granted, there was the difficulty of Duchovny not being contracted for season 9. But. (I would suck at constructive problem solving seminars, for the record and would take Detours with Mulder any time to avoid one.)

Yeah, it's Kessenich from interviews that he conducted around the 9th season. Shiban is the one that says the idea came from Chris and Frank (from quotes on Polly's CTP).

Nah, the rumor has been off and on for years and years. I think it picked up steam again a couple years ago when Duchovny split from Leoni for the final time and Anderson split from Griffiths. Not to mention the 20th Anniversary tour last year where their obvious affection for and chemistry with each other was on full

I have to admit, there's a part of my brain that says that it wasn't a matter of time for Duchovny. It was a matter of Carter telling him that the ending was William's adoption and Duchovny wanting no part of writing that element.

I don't. But mostly because I want to respect the privacy of the actors. If they made a public announcement that they were dating, then I'd give credence to it.

She got to do some comedy in "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" and her turn as Karen in "Mr. Morgan's Last Love"
afforded her a less grim opportunity, so I'm given to understand. But, you know what? Anderson is so damn good at everything she does, I'm not going to fuss that she's taken the roles she's chosen.

Not to mention Duchovny and Anderson. :) Every interview I've seen with them since about 2010 when the question is asked, they're all over it. It's at the point now where if someone asks "So how do you feel about another -" they'll cut them off and say "Yes. Just need a script and the go from Fox."

I loved her ending on Lost! I haven't seen Homeland yet. Is it worth it?

Definitely a credit to Anderson and definitely a credit to Duchovny's love for these characters. I'm pretty sure the areas in which he was similarly confused were the scene mentioned by Owens (how Scully should handle letting The Breather hold her son) and when Doggett suggests The Breather is Mulder.

That's a pretty good summary of the Believers arc. :) I haven't read the MOTW issues yet, but it's on my list.

Oh! You just touched on something else that bothered me that I forgot to mention in my ponderously long comment on "William". The alien replacements are in the freaking government. How in the bloody hell do they think even a closed adoption can't be discovered? It's not even like they have the Gunmen to throw up
