I'm not sure he's coming back into the fold in the comics, though. It sounds like that's one piece Carter wants to save for XF3, if it ever happens. From what I've read from Joe Harris, to clarify.

Only for the Dingo Ate My Baby reference. And the fact that Gillian Anderson breaks my heart every time she's given angst to play.
I really wish I'd been clued in to the AV Club before I was - I've loved these last few weeks talking about one of my favorite shows with you guys, and have some regret that said lack of knowledge precluded me from engaging with the folks here for the previous 8 seasons.
Yeah, that's a fun fact from Musings. Glen Morgan and James Wong wanted to kill off Frohike in that episode but Carter was adamantly against it. Frustrating though it may have been for Morgan&Wong, and however better it might have made that episode, I can kind of understand Carter's vehemence.
WILLIAM
JUMP THE SHARK
I get the impression from the commentary by Spotniz, Shiban and Gilligan that the writers wanted to give the Gunmen a heroic ending. And they may have felt like they accomplished that feat, but there's so much here that rubs me the wrong way. The Gunmen, specifically Langly, have always been the go-to…
Yeah, and that's why I argue that Scully may have *wanted* to believe it was Mulder because she missed him so much but her declaration that she never believed that Spender was Mulder is true. That's how Gillian Anderson played it, at any rate. No doubt Mulder has kept secrets from her in the past, but throughout the…
It's odd how much the Emmy nominations and wins have been so stagnant. Genre shows have always had an uphill fight to earning nominations for work that was as good, if not better, than your rote cop/medical/family dramas. Scott Bakula was nominated 4 times for Quantum Leap, Kirk Douglas got a nomination for Tales from…
Ugh, right? Maybe next week?
Also, totally excited that before the inevitable boy fist-fight over the girl's honor, the girl got to defend her own damn honor.
Call me sentimental, but I loved Paltrow's cover of "Turning Tables" and think it was her best vocal performance on the show. Though, for funsies "Forget You" was her highlight.
Good call! I'm also going to mention what I'd have liked to see for the character's stories.
I feel the same way about the original Glee version versus this one. But then, I've always loved Lea Michele and Chris Colfer's musical chemistry, so I thought I was just being biased.
Isn't that Glee's only plot, thought? Make Character X the bully or mean for the week so that Character Y either learns something about themselves or teaches Character X a lesson that will just be forgotten next time they need to dip into that plot well.
Oh, I'm not going to argue that Rachel has her share of awful moments. And the Prom Queen revelation was fine, though it completely cancels out one of the few genuinely nice things Santana has done - not because Santana was honest about it but because she intended to be hurtful.
I kind of think a C is too harsh as well, but grading is subjective and that's part of its beauty.
The nostalgia is what got me. The choreography for Keep Holding On, the same montage style for Defying Gravity and a bunch of little things that felt like RiB were rewarding fans for watching.
Wow. I love commenting back and forth with you on The X-Files reviews and now you're teaching me things about older cats (which will be useful in about 10 years). You rock.
At least they looked good in snow. And the snow looked good. Hell, the whole movie was beautifully shot. I wouldn't even be fussy about the standalone aspect of the movie if the laundry list of problems it did have were tweaked just right. And if it hadn't been released against The Dark Knight.
Next week is going to be an interesting comments section. Chinese kind of interesting. I can't wait for Zack's review and the … um … lively conversation we're all likely to have about both Jump the Shark and William.
