My first thought was that his brake balance was off seeing the replay on tv, his front tires locked up completely and caused him to veer straight into Vergne. Its hard to tell from the attached video but they later showed a rear facing shot of the accident and it did not appear as though all 4 tires locked up.

But isn't that why drifting is usually referred to as a Motorsport. I would not call it racing as its not judged in terms of time or position really. (sorry I responded so late, but I like the topic!)

Probably a good way to ensure amateur owners don't push their cars too hard.

I recently installed front and rear sway bars on my e46 325i and can only agree, huge cornering improvement with no noticeable sacrifice in daily drive ability!

lol, your Saturn vue is front wheel drive, this guy is enjoying the FR layout of his BMW, with such driving skill I'm sure he could switch to grip driving faster than he transitions those drifts.

I can only imagine the Clarkson comments, "have them all executed in front of their families!"

visual proof this looks like the f30

my goodness the front fascia screams f30 BMW

That impact brought him to a complete stop almost immediately, and I bet he wasn't expecting that as well, I thought the crash looked brutal.
