Man, about 20 years ago, you could get one of these for pennies. Great condition ones were under 10 grand IIRC, and good condition drivers with paperwork were under 5 grand. Now, even high mileage ones go for like 30 grand (assuming they’re in good shape, of course).

Ah, you mean the ones where people left their keyless cars on and died from carbon monoxide? People have been doing that with physical keys since ignition keys for cars existed. It’s an easier fix to do with keyless cars since you can and should have some form of auto shutoff if there’s no driver input for X minutes.

Key fobs are still superior to physical keys. I will fight you on this. And we’ve already seen the ignition switch isues from companies like VW and GM lead to deaths and other safety issues while also being less convenient.
