This is much more cringe than Riseborough.

I liked it and think a lot of EEAAO biggest fans have been arses about the film.
We don’t have to make everything about HIM whenever Buffy comes up. You’ll also find many actors, male and female, who had a positive working experience with him. Which in no way takes away from those who had shitty experiences working with him. And if some had bad experiences with SMG then this doesn’t take away from…
They exist to remind me that all the new trek series take place in this other timeline. No I don’t care if everyone involved says otherwise, it’s the only way to explain how everyone talks and acts in these new shows. The Kelvin Timeline, where even high ranking Star Fleet officers bicker like adolescents. Where…
Welcome to the debate. It’s whether someone can “choose” to identify as a different gender than the one they were assigned at birth. (I believe they can)
Where do I do that? Be precise.
Yes I do agree her tweet about Forester “both downplayed what she said and overplayed what actually happened.” and undercut her larger message of supposed support for trans people.
Eh where did I do that? Be precise.
Is that true though? I remember this debacle first rearing it’s head when Rowling stated that someone shouldn’t be fired for saying sex is real. She has since written clumsily and even problematically on the matter, and in particular has defended and amplified others who have said more explicitly transphobic things, b…
Yes it is hard for many older feminists who have battled to break down gender norms and now see, in their view, biological males who claim to be women because they conform to many of these “female” norms.
I agree.
You’ve just put a load of words in my mouth and accused me of been heinous for simply framing the debate accurately, not even voicing and opinion on the matter. I find it important when trying to reason with someone I disagree with to at least have a reasonable understanding of their point of view. Otherwise we are…
I think gender is a social construct and that trans women are women and trans men are men and that there are also biological and psychological differences in sex. I imagine we largely agree on the matter but well done on insulting someone for simply trying to frame the debate accurately.
I don’t think the issue is treating them as human beings, more whether they are male/female and whether that is something someone can choose.
You mean when as a curious 7 year old she did something she didn’t know was inappropriate because she was a 7 year old who didn’t know it was inappropriate. To be honest I’d be more concerned about those who think this was sexual abuse.
A “nasty” thing to say? FFS...
My god this debate is stupid. It was a genuine attempt at a compliment. French, Germanic and Scandinavians get this all the time in the UK. It does not have to have any racist or social connotations, just a genuine surprise that someone is able to speak so eloquently in a second language. Condescending sure but that…
Jesus you are both reading way too much into this. For someone who only speaks one language it can be genuinely impressive to hear someone be more eloquent than you in their SECOND language. It was a genuine and perhaps condescending compliment.

Indeed. A supposed satire show that unironicly makes something that cringy and itself deserving of satirizing was proof, if it was needed, that SNL had lost whatever meaning it once had.
