Wow that is horrifying under there haha, but yeah you can without a doubt keep nursing them along and 100% if I was getting a truck truck for hauling landscaping supplies, home renovation project items, an engine block home, or any of the above I'd be totally fine with it. It was, as you put it, worrying about a 20

My point was simply that unlike virtually all other factors at play, rust is the great equalizer in car care. I had to store my car outside for almost all of its life, and no amount of maintenance and car washes helped that fact combined with some severe winters. I fully agree with Tom overall and was less debating

Is the car German? I don't know who else has the full 12 year perforation warranty coverage. Being in automotive I can tell you 100% it depends on the brand, but by and large it's much less of an issue today. The worst offenders were the Japanses up until a few years ago because they use no sale in Japan and they

The true Swedes are like the Germans, fantastic rust protection. It's only the Japanese (especially far cars still built in Japanese factories and engineered in Japan) up until that point that were horrible. Subaru was a bit behind the ball from having lower volumes still to that point. The corrosion

I realize how woeful the Japanese rust specs were at least for Subaru circa 2005. Compared to equivalent age and mileage domestics and German's, the rust was appalling. Looking at the control arms when I'd do an oil change or brake pads made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

I had a great 2005 Saabaru 9-2X I’d owned since new that I wanted to keep. It was just disappointing because it wasn’t even worth it as an extra car. The rust got so horrible, despite my best efforts (having to have a car parked on the street it’s entire life does horrible things... most interestingly my left hand

I agree except for one major point that renders the entire discussion moot, rust. In the rust belt, when a car reaches a given age/mileage/rust level, it is not worth it anymore.

Is the material around the main 10.2" display soft touch? Please say yes because it immediately caught my attention as god awful hard black plastic like every other GM product through history.

I wholeheartedly agree. I had the chance to back to back test drive an E90 328i sport package and F30 328i sport package and the difference was as stark as I thought it would be.

COTD.

I thought a manual was coming here, but it was the loss of the S4 manual that was the bigger issue.

Oh and I forgot a great one, every time I go to the VEC I STILL see at least one Saabaru 9-2X's cruising around. Which is the greatest reminder ever of how asinine the policy is since the Subaru is fully welcome to park wherever it wants despite being approximately 0.0000001% General Motors....

You are 10000000000% right.

I think you need to hold a formal poll with the top 10 options and include the Model A or Model T. I know I’d have commented for that elsewhere had I known it would effectively be thrown out. I looked through all the other Kinja suggestions, it just happened to be the best without a doubt.

It could be a very simple seemingly unrelated item to a GMW spec for some process variation with a tooled part now being produced at its final location. If you’re in the industry it makes perfect sense and happens all the time... and I can imagine the DRE who’s causing the hold up with a stop sale order is just loving

Do NOT get the GTI, it is MASSIVELY disappointing. I’ve had mine for 5 months (‘15 GTI SE 6MT) and would do anything if I could swap it for a WRX. I got it because it was the more “responsible” choice but I regret it every day. If you want all the reasons why reply to my comment with any questions and I’ll explain.

MOTHER. OF. GOD.

So. Much. This.

I leased one and have been nothing but disappointed. This car has no soul and despite being capable the amount of time I spend actually smiling on a regular drive is simply depressing. I can look at the good cabin materials all day long (and I appreciate good build quality), but if I can’t wait to get out of work

+1, it's hilariously a standard open-deck, LS style block doubled over. I wonder if it has direct injection from the LT1 but I highly doubt it....
