Yeah they give Ruthie like two genuine lines in the kitchen at Gabe’s house and that’s not enough insight for her to be compelling. I did also go check out Patti Harrison’s IG and her humor just does not jibe with me at all, so I wonder if she’s had an outsized influence on how they write for her character.

Yeah it really just was notttt funny to me this season. The only things that remained consistently funny were ones related to Fran, mostly because Lolly is amazing (also loved Emily this season). I find the Ruthie character EXTREMELY unfunny and grating. I don’t know if her presence was really expanded this year or if

God I love this movie. Watched it obsessively when it came out and then rewatched it on TV not that long ago and still love it. The group of friends really make it for me. I want to hang out with them at Honey’s birthday party every time. So many good random lines that enter my head in daily life as well. “I’m taking

Hahaha I can hear that line perfectly in my head! On the flip side, my sister and I have taken the “not a classic anecdote” line from Grant’s coworker at the bookshop when he says he once saw ringo starr, but it might have been the guy from fiddler on the roof, but it might have been neither of them really. Now we say

He said “Tommy asked me to play at his wedding.” Phyllis didn’t have a son named Tommy, so I’m not sure why you would’ve thought the groom at the wedding was Phyllis’s son. Maybe it’s her nephew??? Which would make it skeevy but he was defo making eyes at the groom I thought.

Earlier in the episode when she was having the mock debate with her husband, the son came in before heading out for the night. She thought he was secretly going out to meet a girl and he told her that he was playing the organ for this wedding

I thought it was the longing stare from her son towards the groom

I think the preview issue of Ms. was Kali and then the first issue was Wonder Woman. They do talk about the Wonder Woman cover in the episode

I was one of those people who really loved Like Crazy (and I actually still do I watch it semi-regularly), and I still haven’t figured out if Doremus’s movies have gotten worse or if I just saw Like Crazy at the right time in my life (early 20s) and so the same tactics just don’t grab me anymore. But yeah the ones

I mean I’m 100% on Marty’s side

Eh, I’d say that’s a false equivalence. Marty likes plenty of recent films, it seems, he just doesn’t like Marvel/superhero movies or think they’re of a high caliber, which a lot of people agree with. It’s still an unpopular take with the youths, but he’s not saying there are no good films being made. He loves film

AMEN

Agreed on the last sentence for sure

Yeah Molly was way off base there. Projecting her own issues onto Issa and not allowing Issa to grow. Rough.

I had a huge crush on him when I was a preteen.

Golden Globes love to reward an ingenue; Oscars usually love to reward someone for a body of work once they’ve ~paid their dues~ it’s all very weird. It’s more fun when the weird random ingenue/upstart slips into the oscars

Best Actor last year had some real shit nominations ugh

I really don’t think that’s what Katie was going for. I think she just got it wrong. Also I don’t think his Vice role was worthy of an Oscar anyway. If anything, he should’ve won for American Psycho.

Uhhh I haven’t gotten past the first paragraph but Katie I can tell you that Christian Bale did not win an Oscar for Vice. He won his Oscar for The Fighter.

You mean the one who cheated on her constantly? I’d say he was a fan of betrayal
