From the way this crash was described, it is no different to if an older car with its “dumb” cruise control engaged ran a red light at speed. Of course it was the driver’s fault for not operating the car correctly. Just because it was a more advanced system doesn’t mean that the operator is blameless.

The braking claim is THIN. Consumer Reports provided a chart of 9 vehicles. 4 of the electric vehicles had a GREATER stopping distance than their gas equivalents. Unless they’ve got a lot more data, that’s not a statistical significance I’d hang my hat on. Their explanation also has holes in it.

C&D’s tests of the 2022 Kia Carnival and 2022 Honda Civic resulted in 70-0 stopping distances of 186 feet and 170 feet respectively, so these heavier EVs stopping in shorter distances don’t seem to be making your case.

What is the 70-0 for the Hummer and the Sierra?

USPS estimated that each charging station it installs could cost as much as $18,000.

This takes a whole article? The fact that Volvo is copying Tesla?

I mean, ethics of meat aside, certainly you’d have to agree leaving the cattle stuck on a truck to starve, freeze, or die of dehydration is probably the worst option, no? You’re comments are inline with the logic of PETA stealing and releasing lobsters into freshwater to prevent them from being sold & eaten.

This is the society you get when you treat firearm ownership as an inalienable right, rather than a privilege with responsibilities.

The central argument of this article doesn’t hold up. If $36,000 is their current average cost, then their lowest cost vehicle could be thousands lower than that to build.

Why a $25,000 Tesla will never come: because people are climbing over each other to pay $50,000 instead.

A way to properly recycle them is still just as necessary.

Well, we’re not just talking panel gaps but also things like roofs flying off

We can’t, so we should probably work on the stuff we can control.

Tesla has already done this in some locations, mainly in the middle of nowhere.  I agree its a great idea and one that needs to be more widespread/available for all EV’s.

Serious question. How do we know that FSD was engaged? This could easily have been a “crap, I was texting, but I don’t want my insurance company to know” moment.

1) 30% weight savings for that piece

I think the bigger story here is that 17% of people surveyed didn’t know that Tesla offered an EV.

I live in a town of 40k people and there are 6 different public charging locations for electric cars. All locations have many chargers of course.

(there thankfully are no longer any ‘pay’ drivers
